when can i change my puppys food to Adult?
- I would start pretty much now, but mix the puppy food with the new food. This makes the changeover gradual. This is approximately the age where we began to shift to the adult large breed food for our Yellow Lab. We do give her a variety of food also. She has an amazing appetite, so we have to watch that she doesnt gain too much weight, Labs are known to want to overeat and gain weight. She is 7 now, but we still give her a small breakfast, its difficult to eat our breakfast without giving her a little of her food. I think its better for the dog to have a small breakfast and not have to eat all their food at dinnertime.

When do I switch from three meals a day to two meal a day? Then one meal a day?
- We have a 7 year old Yellow Lab, and here is her feeding schedule. Out of her allocated daily amount of food, we give her about 15% of it while we are eating our breakfast, then at lunch time, she gets about 10%, then at dinner time she gets the remaining 75%. We have found that its better for our dogs to not have to eat all their food in one lump at dinner time. Seems better for the dog. This is the way we have been feeding all our dogs over many years. Of course if you arent home for the full day, as we are/retired, then you might not want to feed them as much breakfast if your dog wont be outdoors and playing as ours is.
