Disappointed

I purchased this cage for my African Grey less then 2 years ago. I wanted a cage that would last. Unfortunately, I find this cage to be very heavy (stainless steel). In order for me to clean it properly, I need to roll it down a few stairs to my outdoor deck. After doing this several times, 2 of the wheels came loose and have fallen off. The cage now topples over if I try to move it. Since, it's heavy, it has actually become quite dangerous for me to move it or try to clean it, etc. My guarantee has expired, so I feel that the cost of the cage was not worth it. I'm now forced to look for a new cage - a lighter one that I can easily move to clean and that's wheels stay intact.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I purchased a cage made by this company several years ago, it was decent quality so I bought another and made it the home for a small amazon, the quality on the second cage is inferior to the first cage but good enough with the external bowls which are optional, the doors that come with it do not stay in place. I then made the mistake of purchasing this larger cage for a Cockatoo, I thought if I purchase all external bowls it would be ok, this cage is awful, I wish I could return it. The trays are difficult to remove for changing the paper and cleaning. External feeders don't fit properly and the Triton already knocked it out of the feeding panel This company should stick to making mouse traps which apparently is their core business now.

Better than pictured

The picture in the product listing is wrong and made me stay away from this cage for years. In the picture, the cage bar sections are attached to the frame with strange "triangular" corner attachment points. These attachment points posed a huge, potentially lethal danger to Caiques in getting their heads stuck inside those corners. Even though this cage is 1" (the absolute maximum those birds can have) those triangular attachment points provided a much larger gap than 1" to get their heads stuck into. I am happy to report that the actual cage I received must be a redesigned one with those awful triangular corner attachment points removed and thus making this cage safe for Caiques (White Bellied / Black Headed). Overall, this is a great cage for a great price! That said, this cage does have some flaws: - The casters are terrible and fall out easily if one end of the cage is lifted such as when rolling this cage over a bump and this can even bend the plastic mounts they mount into, screwing them up. This can even cause the whole cage to fall over if both front or both back casters fall out so please do not roll/lift this cage over bumps with your birds inside it! There really is no excuse here. The casters should SCREW in -- not be held by a flimsy plastic sheath. - The legs the casters go into are a little bit uncomfortably thin looking with no support close to the bottom / wheels. I would have appreciated a cross brace or something like that. There is a cross brace halfway down towards the wheels but I would have appreciated one right at the bottom where the most stress is. - The dome part side panels have places where the gap is actually a little over 1" -- roughly 1.15" measured with a micrometer. This is risky for Caiques and I may have to request a replacement part for this if I can't simply bend it in such a way that it's 1" or less. Drs. Foster & Smith: PLEASE UPDATE YOUR PICTURE OF THIS PRODUCT!! (with preferably a higher resolution one too)

My review on this cage is not a good one the cage is beautiful easy to put together but when it comes to the legs the wheels fall off and fall out with the plastic that's inserted already in the leg very disappointed with this product bought two cages and have them leaning against the wall sorry doctor Foster but this is a wAste of my money once two wheels came off and we heard a load bang the cage fell over with one of my birds the bird now is biting

I own 2 of these cages and they around 12 + years old. Here is what happened in the 2nd year 1) door springs go. Doors no longer stay on cage 2) my Grey can open the front door 3) wheels are cheap plastic and fall apart quickly Now they did redesign the doors but that doesn't help me ...and I cant get new doors. So I now have a geririgged caged with chains all over HOLDING the doors on and locking the front door.

No, I do not recommend this product.

It is lightweight, so that I can roll it to the patio for cleaning or for the bird to get daily sun. Great size for my caique, I was a little concerned at first due to the one inch bar space but it has not been a problem. The only thing that we will need to change are the wheels they do not stay in when I move the cage down the lip into the patio they fall out. Love the cage.

Yes, I recommend this product.

is this strong and large enough for an Umbrella "too

  1. Definitely not

Can I put a breeding pair of Panama Amazons in this cage. If not what size cage do I need and do you sell one?

  1. Yes you can if you put the box on the outside, but that means cutting the cage. But you have to study up on the mating positions (I'm serious) in regard of where you put your perches to make sure they have enough room. Also, parrots like privacy,... so its not what kind of cage but where you put it. I would go for a bigger model if your amazons are bigger than Congo Greys.

you can't get more info on the cage caleco the more details que does not open it looks and is priced like stainless sreel and is priced as so
