Your dog's skin is naturally - and constantly - exposed to many elements including pollens, airborne pollutants, and other airborne substances that can compromise your pet's healthy skin. To help maintain your pet's ongoing skin health, we recommend adding pure Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil to his daily diet. Fish oil is the best source of these important fatty acids your dog needs for healthy skin support, a healthy immune response, PLUS support for healthy coat, healthy joints, heart health, and kidney health. Our veterinarian-formulated Double Strength Omega-3 Soft Chews make it extremely easy for you to give your dog the Omega-3 fatty acids that support overall wellness.

  • - If you only buy one item for your dog's overall wellness, make it this one!
  • - The highest levels of pure, fish-oil-based Omega-3 fatty acids for healthy skin support
  • - EPA & DHA Omega-3s also support immune health, healthy joints, heart health, & kidney health
  • - Veterinarian-formulated, cheese-flavor soft chews your dog will think are actually treats

My dog used to do tricks for the "old" (regular strength) Premium Plus Omega-3 Soft Chewables, but she spit out the first bite of these new ones and won't try them again. These are dark and unappetizing looking, unlike the earlier ones that had a sort of cheesy appearance (although I never tried them to determine if they actually tasted that way). In addition to the flavor change, the "double strength" change is unacceptable: my 11-lb dog doesn't need double strength, but I had decided that I could just cut them (carefully) in half. But these aren't even remotely like the old ones. My dog will eat the "Premium Plus Omega-3 fatty acid supplement soft chews for dogs" but it has odd ingredients (why would I want to feed her "yucca schidigera extract"?) and she clearly doesn't like it as much as the original omega-3 soft chews. Why did Drs F&S change something that dogs liked and that worked well? Give us the old Premium Plus Omega-3 Soft Chewables back again!

No, I do not recommend this product.

My 3 big shorthaired dogs were shedding badly. I started them on this product and you could see the improvement almost immediately. I also changed the brand of dogfood and that helped too. Drs. Foster and Smith do not carry this brand of dogfood; I have to get it at the co-op.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Last two times I purchased this supplement was very dry, crumbly, bad odor. I only ordered this a second time because I thought that this company would not put their name on something like this at a high price. My two dogs won't eat these at all. Normally, they will eat almost anything to the point that I have to closely watch what they get into. Ended up throwing two large tubs in the garbage..

No, I do not recommend this product.

One of our AmStaffs had an issue with splitting nails (SLO) and nothing that we tried seemed to help. After having him on the Double Strength Omega 3 soft chews, the issue disappeared. He eats them readily on top of his food and no more ouchy split nails.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Do not waste your money on this product. It doesn't work. I have been using a product from another source for years and decided to try this. Shortly after starting my dog on this her coat started to dry out and change colors. I have gone back to the other supplier's product, that isn't double strength, and her coat went back to normal.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

How many mg of EPA and DHA are in each chewable.

  1. Thank you for your question. The EPA Eicosapentaenoic Acid IS 360 mgs and the DHA Docosahexaenoic Acid is 240 mgs.

Need equivalent of 4000 mg/day dose

  1. Thank you for your question. Following the dosage instructions, this product would not provide the 4 grams of EPA fish oil you indicated. We recommend you provide the ingredients, available on the more information tab, to your veterinarian to see if they would recommend using this product for your pet's situation.

What ingredients are in these?

  1. Thank you for your question. We have provided the list of ingredients below: Ingredients: Rice Bran, Corn Starch, Cane Molasses, Fish Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Lecithin, Water, Safflower Oil, Glycerin, Natural Cheese Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (preservative), Sorbic Acid (preservative), Calcium Propionate (preservative), dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate.

How long until you see results?

  1. My dog's coat was noticeably softer in 2 months.

Omega 3 double strength chews

  1. My dogs, have a much better coat and less shedding now

recommended dosage of chewable omega 3 tablets for dogs

  1. Thank you for your question. If giving more than one chewable, divide between morning and evening.

are any of the ingreatence are from china

  1. It doesn't say where it's made, but it's made just for Doctors Foster and Smith. The shampoo and conditioner both provide a phone number for questions on the bottle. 1 800 562 7169. I think pet food and treats made in China are the main problem items that need to be avoided for pet's safety.

How many chews are in the 1 lb or 3 lb container?

  1. The product listing says the 1.8 lbs tub has approximately 96 chews per tub and the 3.6 lbs tub has approximately 192 chews per tub. I ordered my 3.6 lb tub 6+ months ago, giving my dog one chew a day, and there are still a few weeks left of chews remaining.

Is there any information regarding the quality/type of fish oil besides "high quality" statement?

  1. Thank you for your question. There's mostly anchovy, and sometimes sardine by-catch as well.

Presently use Welactin Omega 3 may I substitute Omega 3 chewables

  1. Omega 3 supplements definitely have skin/coat benefits for dogs and cats. But you should contact your veterinarian to see if the specific itching issue your dog has would benefit from Omega 3 supplements. Some itching problems in pets stem from problems that Omega 3 supplements can't help (i.e. food allergies, environmental allergies, fleas, skin infections, etc.).
