I love this tank its great but be warned keep your reciepts my light will only turn on to blue both ways and will not shut off....tried fluval company themselves wont help me cause i dont have reciept.......

This tank has everything you need to get started. It doesn't, however come with a heater. I picked up a 25w store brand heater from a local store and it fit inside the pump section. The light is good enough to grow plants that require low to medium light. We have Vals and Crypts in there now and both are flourishing after just 1 1/2 weeks. If you're thinking about buying a nano tank then don't look any further than this little setup. Fluval hit it out of the park with this package.

Few points: 1) the lid came broken but dr. foster&smith was kind enough to replace very conveniently - would buy from them again any time 2) the replacement lid eventually cracked again - it is very flimsy and allows water to escape if you have an air pump installed (and there is no room for the tube) 3) the filter system is very inconvenient to access and not easy to maintain for a novice - this is not a kit for beginners, but may be a better fit for intermediate/experienced hobbyists with knowledge of filters 4) the tank is fine, but the lighting system is also flimsy and makes accessing the aquarium difficult as it gets in the way. Bottom line: 1) flimsy plastic lid that does not close the tank 2) no room for an air stone tube to go through lid 3) filter system is not easy to use (compared to other products) 4) lighting system is incoveniently placed and deters access to tank

I've been in the trade for a while and this tank has exceeded my expectations on design and filtratration. Lighting, however, has some work to be done. As a reef keeper (and all of my prior freshwater tanks have been heavily planted) I anticipated some decent LEDs when I read that they were 7600k and supposed to have high enough lumens for moderate to low light level plants. This was not the case. The plants that survived after 4 months (staurogyne repens, anubias nana) were living off of sunlight. Two echinodorus (rosette sword, Amazon sword) rotted under this light. It has the potential to be a beautiful aquarium, but it might take some work.

The Fluval Spec desk tank fits nicely on my desk. My Beta does well in the tank.

I was pleasantly surprised when my aquarium arrived...it was even better in person than onsite. I had limited space available but my two goldfish needed a larger "dig." This aquarium fits perfectly in the space available and it accommodates my goldies very well....they seem to he enjoying the new environment. It looks beautiful in our home. It's run quitely, and the lighting is very nice from bright light to blue or no light at all. This is a quality made aquarium and will last a very long time. Very happy with our purchase.

Super easy set up, hides wires, filter, pump, etc. The pump is exceptionally quiet, can't even hear vibration. Very happy with the whole set up. Bought a small heater to go with the tank and it fits easily inside the pump area in the back, completely hidden. A great tank that is great looking.

First tank arrived broken but was replaced very quickly. The second tank was packaged much better and was setup and running in minutes. There is just enough room in the overflow area for a heater and entire setup looks very clean. I will be replacing the light with a stronger one as it will be planted and the light provided is not strong enough. However if you don't plan on using real plants the light it comes with is fine. The lid was slightly warped but after keeping it weighted down for a few days it fits better.
