Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Halo stands by the ingredients in our food and says NO to factory farming. We choose humanely raised GAP 2 certified meats, non-GMO vegetables - and NEVER any artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Halo is made with only real WHOLE meat - and no "meat meal" of any kind. Why does this matter? Because whole meat is more easily digested than rendered, processes meat meal containing higher levels of ash.

  • - Small breed dog food made with WHOLE chicken and chicken liver, oatmeal, pearled barley, and non-GMO vegetables and fruits
  • - COMPARE: WHOLE chicken, never ANY rendered "meat meal," like "chicken meal" or "fish meal"
  • - GAP Certified
  • - Made in the USA with no meat-meals or antibiotics as well as no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives
  • - Smaller, nutrient dense kibble made for small breed dogs' smaller mouths, short digestive tracts, and higher metabolism

We have two small dogs who are picky eaters. Halo's small breed dog food has a very small, thin kibble. It's very easy for our dogs to chew. They seem to like it more than any dog food that we've tried. My only gripe is the price.

Yes, I recommend this product.

My 3 month old, 7 pound chihuahua mix went on a hunger strike with every food I tried feeding him! Even going 24 hours without touching food. But I offered him Halo Toy/Small Breed Chicken and he eats like a champ! I tried at least 4 other brands, including Canidae Pure and Wellness Small Breed, and he seems to like this best. I love that the kibble is very tiny so he can eat comfortably. And I feel good feeding him this food. It's not greasy and it's always very fresh. It has the tiniest sized kibbles I've found so it makes eating easy for small mouths.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good dry food at a price

I tried Blue Buffalo dry food but our 20 month old Shih Tzu, Lola, prefers Halo Spot's Stew. Halo's small breed dog food is shaped like a flat disc that my dog seems to prefer. She seems to like Halo's taste and size better. Would have given 5 stars if the cost was more in line with the other premium dry dog foods.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Love Halo

I love the quality of Halo dog food; ingredients are pretty simple -- meat and vegetables. I also like that the kibble is sized for different size dogs. Our Bugg has eaten this food for all of her 2 years and she's healthy, not overweight, and has good solid stools. And boy does she love her dinner!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Maggie is a 5 yr old miniature Pinscher. She has shown a preference for chicken. I have feeding both Halo chicken and boiled chicken with raw cabbage or carrot since she was a puppy. Recently have added the Halo Turkey, duck and pheasant. This is one happy minpin.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have 2 dogs about 4 years old, a Shih-Tzu & Toy Poodle.

  1. 1princess1, Thank you for your question. The Wellness Toy Breed food that you are currently using has Omega 3 & Omega 6 which helps support healthy skin and coat. The Omega 3 & Omega 6 help support healthy skin and coat does not contain the Omega 3 and Omega 6. If you feel that your Shih-Tzu has dry skin, we would recommend adding an additional supplement, such as Nordic Naturals® Omega-3 Pet® Oil Supplement. Why isn't there a chicken healthy weight without liver in it? Liver is terrible for dogs.

I am looking for a copper free food for a westie with copper retention.

    1. why don't you just make your own? you can make a lot and freeze it in small daily serving size containers

I am looking for the 28 lb Halo Chicken Spot Stew, can only see the 4 ob and 10 ob on your site

I have two small breed dogs, (min. longhaired dachshund and papillon) will this small breed food keep their weight in check?

      1. The recommendation on my bag of Spot's Stew Chicken for Toy and Small Breeds is: 5-8 lbs -- 1/2-3/4 c per day, 9-12 lbs -- 3/4-1 c per day. My Bugg is about 22 lbs and the recommendation for her is 1 1/2-1 3/4 c per day. She gets 3/4 c in the morning and 3/4 c at dinner time with 1/4 can of their chicken or beef canned food added (for dinner only). It's just enough to make it yummy and she totally loves it.
