Did not work as expected & the smell is TERRIBLE

We bought this because our new tank was cloudy after set up for 3 or 4 days. Have put it in a total of 4 times & the only noticeable feature of it is the horrible smell!! We lost 2 fancy cat fish after 4 days & they cost $11 each. Also lost 1 of our big pretty lions head goldfish we had transfered from our old tank that leaked. We removed the remaining fish to an outdoor pond. We have had the filter running in the empty tank for a week & still not clear. The pH seems to be fine, so we don't know what the problem is, but would definitely not recommend this product.

I bought this item with the intention to elevate the beneficial bacteria in my well established reef aquarium. The aquarium also had a big cyano bacteria problem at the time I bought the product, so I figured one bacteria would cancel the other and gave it a shot. The product smells like death, but it subsidies quickly after being added into the system. Overall, I see more clarity in my water, less detritus, and the cyano is receding after a month of use. It is unclear to me if the product is helping with the cyano or if the hot Arizona summer is finally releasing it's grasp from my system. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to boost clarity and increase the beneficial bacteria.

I've been using this product for years and love it. It has beneficial bacteria that is great for your tank. I wood strongly recommend this for your tank and there's no overdosing like other products. It has a strong smell but it only lasts a few minutes.

I have a 60 gallon tank with 6 inches of crushed coral as a base.Over the years sludge has accumulated . One cap of this every 2 to 3 weeks has cleaned it up. It has taken a while to get there but it works without effort on my part.

I bought this product because it said it removes odor and clears cloudy water. It did, in fact, remove the odor. However, it caused my aquarium water to get cloudier. I have a 36 gallon tank, and I have been doing 25% water changes for one month. According to the instructions, I am to add another dose, in two days, but I am afraid it will make my water worse. If anyone uses this product, under dose and don't add to water according to the instructions.

It has the ability to break down organic waste including hard to degrade substances other bacterial products leave behind. Special Blend can breakdown excess proteins, and is the only product that contains bacteria capable of biologically reducing nitrates. All of this results in improved water quality, for healthier corals and fish. In addition to this, many corals will feed on the bacteria in Special Blend, and we have had reports of corals opening more fully, and growing much better when Special Blend is used regularly. The photosynthetic bacteria in Special Blend is a natural carotenoid which can enhance the colors of some corals. Special Blend is one of the best additives you can use for the overall health of the corals and fish, and the quality of the water.
