The item arrived on my porch in a beat-up box with holes and creases in it. It wasn't even packed in a sturdy box. I took it out of the box and it seemed warped. I plugged it in and waited a few minutes and it was warming up. I put it out in the garage for my cat and she started using it the next day. I will keep it because it works and I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it. A couple days after I bought it I saw the same product at a home store for $45. Thats $13 less than I spent on Petco.com.

No, I do not recommend this product.

My kitties were on this pad as soon as i plugged it in. My 2 outside kitties are 5 months old and very spoiled. Today is our first snow fall and they are in their little house all warm and cozy !!! Will help them survive the cold Iowa winter.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Our outdoor cats love it! We have a little feral cat who won't come inside -even in the coldest of weather. She just loves it - and now I have a piece of mind knowing she can be comfortable even when it's cold.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought 2 of these and they arrived in time for the onset of cold weather. They're exactly like ones I bought 4 years ago and those I left on 24/7 all winter long! I would highly recommend them to anyone who cares for feral cats or has cats that go outside during the cold months.

Yes, I recommend this product.

It works fine but is slow to heat up. It would be nice if the unit had an automatic on/off based on weight on the pad. Or it could have a timer for on/off. My cat prefers his cushier beds unless he's really cold. The cover pad is very thin and provides no cushioning, something my cat really wants.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I was pleasently surprised to find out these heated pads were very sturdy and well built, as well as working as advertised. The outdoor cat community adopted them readily and the pregnant one never seems to leave her spot for long. Be advised these pads are hard plastic and need to be used with the supplied fleece pad covers, and they cannot be rolled up to fit inside a small encloser.measure for what you need Otherwise an excellent product

surprised that it is rock hard

I expected this cat pad to be of heavy duty plastic but I didn't expect a rigid plastic with no give. My outdoor/indoor cat refuses to sit on it even with the cover, I think because of its rock hard nature. I washed the cover because of on odd smell, thinking this is what was keeping the cat away but she still won't sit on it. If I cover it with a second blanket or towel to make the surface more appealing (a softer bed) the heat doesn't penetrate through. Be aware that this is not a "comfy" pad but as hard as a rock. If your cat doesn't mind very hard surfaces for sleeping or sitting, it might work fine. My cat chooses the matt by the garage door over this.

No, I do not recommend this product.

What is the difference between the mat for cats and the mat for dogs?

  1. The Outdoor Heated Kitty Pad is the same product as the Lectro-Kennel Small, they are just located in different places in the store and have a different box and UPC. The products are exactly the same. Cat and dogs body temperatures are the same, so any K&H heated product that is designed for cats can be used for dogs, and any products designed for dogs can be used for cats.

Can this heated pad be placed in an outdoor house that has straw in it.

  1. This isn't heated. It is only for window sills.

If I put it in garage, or shed, can I just leave it on ALL OF THE TIME? Or, would I have to make multiple trips out to the shed to turn it on/off?

  1. Yes, you may leave this product plugged in 24/7 and there is no need to make multiple trips out to turn it off as long as it has been installed as per the instructions. Please make sure to only place the cover designed for the pad on top of the pad, no other materials should be placed on top of the pad. As with any electrical device if you leave your home for extended periods of time, such as going to a summer home for weeks, we do suggest unplugging all electrical products in your home.

please tell me the size of the heated kitty bed in inches.

  1. The Outdoor Heated Kitty Pad measures 12.5" x 18.5". If this is too large for your outside house please take a look at the Small Animal Heated Pad, this measures 9" x 12".

Is the kitty pet warmer safe if the kitty likes to claw?

  1. Yes, the surface is a hard plastic. I've had multiple cats and bought several of these heating pads. My cats love them and seem to have no interest in scratching the pad or chewing on the cord. They just love sitting on the warm pad.

Outdoor heated kitty pad and cover sku:1040200 How long is the cord ?

  1. About 5 1/2'.
