This fence is very easy to install. Our dog learned very quickly what her boundaries are and it is peace of mind for us that she will be safe.

I like the fact that you can design your own boundries. We built a waterproof housing to hold the transmitter outside instead of drilling through the walls for the wires. I did replace the collar with a 9 volt one because it was easilier to find 9 volt batteries. I have a large dog with a strong prey drive and this fence stops her (which the cats figured out very quckly).

Yes, I recommend this product.

how far will it transmit? can it cover an acre or more with additional wire? would you need to amplify the signal for longer than 500 ft?

  1. Thank you for your interest in PetSafe® products. The PetSafe PIG00-13661 In-Ground Fence™ can cover an area of up to 10 acres with additional boundary wire. The width of the boundary signal is controlled on the transmitter unit via the boundary width control dial. The distance from the wire the signal will begin will be approximately the same no matter the length of wire.

Do the two end of the underground fencing have to connect?

  1. Thank you for your interest in PetSafe® products. The boundary for a PetSafe In-Ground Fence™ is essentially one long piece of wire. The boundary wire makes a loop, both beginning and ending at the transmitter unit. Both ends of the boundary wire must be inserted into the boundary wire terminals on the transmitter. how do I increase power from vibrate to buzz

  1. Hello, Thank you for your interest in PetSafe products. The receiver collar for this PetSafe In-Ground Containment System has a rubber button located under the clear cap. Use a flathead screw driver or the included test light tool to twist the clear cap off. When you press and release the button, the LED on the receiver collar will flash. How many times it flashes correlates to the level the unit is on. The first level is tone-only. This is used during the training process to help your pet learn the boundary. The strength of the static stimulation will gradually increase with each level. The clear cap is on the receiver collar to help prevent the button from accidently being pressed and increased too high. Every pet is unique, so start on the lowest setting and increase the stimulation only if needed. The level needed will depend upon your pet's temperament more so than size or breed. Our product experts are here to help should you have any other questions. We can be reached at 1-800-732-2677. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST. underground fences, is there a back up plan if the power goes out?

  1. Some of the units have a form of built in protection, usually by using a few alkaline batteries, which you supply and replace as needed. You could also use a very small UPS, but perhaps that is somewhat overkill. If you choose to use a UPS, ensure it is in a dry location.

Does the petsafe fence use a lot of electricity?will it bring up the electric bill by a lot?

  1. I would be shocked (no pun intended) if you noticed an increased amount on your electricity bill. The system itself should consume very little, as all it does is transmit a very low power radio signal through the wire loop defining your containment area. The collar runs on batteries, so of course will not increase you bill at all, other than to recharge on the models where that is an option. Once again, chances are you won't notice a change.
