Yes, for us, it has been an important piece of the puzzle. I would advise trying to figure out why the cat is doing this. In our case, it seemed to be mostly due to harassment by our other cat who herself was feeling unhappy due to winter cabin fever, a relatively new dog, and not enough attention. It took some time and observation to figure this out, but we seem to have settled the issue (going on a year now). We relocated one of the litter boxes, now sift the litter every day and sprinkle a bit of litter attractant on top each time, keep towels and clothes off the floor (her favorite winter alternative), and make sure both cats are getting enough attention and the dogs enough exercise. In our case this product was not a simple one-step solution, but definitely a part of what helps our cat feel comfortable using her litter box.
