RECOMMENDED DAILY FEEDING AMOUNTS: We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN: Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.

Food good but too large for my small dog

rescuemomfoster

I wanted to try something different so I chose this food. I thought from the picture the pieces were smaller. I have a 17lb and 10lb dog who have a lot of teeth missing due to dental problems from being in puppymills. They love the flavor but I have to soak it in warm water first so they can eat without choking on it (no molars). I gave the bag to a friend with a larger dog and their dog loves the food.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Picky eater

My year old guy was a litter of two so there was never a challenge for his food from his mom. I put out his briefest of the pro plan dry and he takes his sweet time so say around 1pm he is done with it. At dinner he get another cup of pro plan but what I do is put in a 1/4 of warm beef broth mix with the pro plan for flavor and its gone before I look back at him. I guess its the benefit of going from a very small litter, No Rush for anything! He is a Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever and you will see "Zac" and his sister "Valentine" at the Westminster Dog Show 2014.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a very picky eater and was told about this product by my vet, so I thought I would try it and see if she would eat it. Much to my surprise she loved it, I have been giving my Chesapeake/Black Lab this brand and flavor since she was 2 months old.. she is now 9 years and still gobbles it up each and every time.. Great product!

Yes, I recommend this product.

We started our adopted dog on another brand that had meat as the #1 ingredient, but she had digestive issues with that. We transferred her over to Pro Plan shredded beef and rice, and she has never had a problem since. I also give this to our foster dogs, and friends dogs when I dog sit. They all love it, never had a dog that didn't like it. Highly recommended!

Low Grade Dog Food

Read the ingredients and compare to a holistic brand; this is why supermarket brands are so cheap! Corn, soy, brewer's rice, generic animal fat, menadione...this is why this food is so low grade, along with the low meat content (dogs are carnivores). Because of the other ingredients, I also doubt the beef is human grade. My dog was being fed Purina Pro Plan by his previous owners, and he came to me with about 6 lbs of the shredded Beef & Rice. He is two-years-old, and they said he had been on the food all his life, and was doing great on it. But, he smelled exactly like his food (very strong & sort of stinky), and he had mushy stools. I'm currently transitioning onto Merrick Before Grain Chicken, and he also gets 1200 mg of fish oil daily for omega 3's. He smells a lot better (breath & overall doggy odor), and his stools are nice and firm. His coat seems softer as well.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I just started to feed my little one with adult dog food. When I gave him the shredded beef food he ate it all. He was as happy as ever. I would recommend this to any one. He is one happy Pom-bichon :)

What is the size of food? I need small bites because my dog had her teeth pulled.

  1. My small beagle had trouble with the regular Savor. I found Small Bites Beef and Rice for her, and she likes it a lot. It also has small shredded pieces in it which she eats like treats. HTH
