Caution

Caution should be used when using this product. I have used it for a month now and the phosphate levels have gone up really high due to the phosphate buffers in it. Trust me when I say use caution or face algae and cloudy water problems.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not perfect but....

I was a little reluctant to recommend this product because I don't believe it is "perfect." The name of it being "neutral regulator" more than suggests that it would set the pH at 7.0 which is what I wanted it for, but I don't believe that it is as precise as the name promises. This is based upon my having followed the label's instructions and repeatedly tested the water with a number of different testing "kits." According to those tests, it never brings the water to 7.0. It does, however, bring the water the "high 6's" which, for my purposes of maintaining a freshwater community tank, is actually good enough. The fish are doing very well in the tank that I maintain with this product so, for this particular purpose, the product has performed adequately, having modified the water from acidic (lower "6's") before I applied it to more closely approximating "neutral" now that I use it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have ben using neutral regulator for 22 years. This is a solid product. My limited experience is with tetras, barbs and south American cichlids. I use it with my periodic water changes sometimes as the only water conditioner and sometimes with prime. I have also done new tank setups for friends that also like freshwater tanks that wish to have species in the 6.8 to 7 PH range. I will start their tanks with gravel and water from one of my water changes and I we have had great success. I will be using this product for as long as I can keep an aquarium. :-0)

Yes, I recommend this product.

Get the ph where it needs to be. Neutral Regulator gets it at 7.0, not hard, not soft. Great for South American Cichlids. Who doesnt love Angels and Oscars? Good stuff.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Purchased to establish neutral Ph in a new tank. Not only did it not lower the Ph, it also turned the water cloudy. Do yourself a favor and try another product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Actually this product was recommended by the professional aquarium cleaner in my office. Our fish did have many problems with our area's tap water condition and couldn't get better with other products until we started using this one. Thus I highly recommend this water conditioning media for the sake of your fish.

Yes, I recommend this product.

  1. Johnnyboy88 Thank you for your question. The Neutral Regulator will not only lower your PH if it is too high, but it will also keep the PH to a neutral level of 7.0.

Can this be used safetly with freshwater shrimp?

  1. Thank you for your question. Per the manufacturer, the Neutral Regulator can be safely used with Freshwater Shrimp. If used as directed, this will not drop the pH in a way that will shock the fish.

Will it stabilize RODI water?

  1. This depends on many variables. In a tank that is cared for and not overloaded it will be a component that prevents your tanks PH from having great variation.

Does it condition the water?

  1. This is the only product that I use to condition our aquarium during each water changing period. Everything seems fine so far for the last several years. (Knock wood) :D

Will this product be ok with live plants>?

  1. Yes, I have used with live plants for 13 years with no issues.

I have very hard water. I added this product in. How long does it take for a 12 gallon tank to get to the neutral ph? The ph level is still too high.

  1. It can take up to 2 weeks. follow the instructions exactly and monitor phosphate level.

Same question: is this product safe for live planted aquariums?

  1. Not for planted aquariums -- Neutralizer has phosphates in it. Try Seachem Equilibrium instead.

Does this product have phosphates in it?

  1. No phosphates that I am aware of.

Can the ssecham neutral regulator be used in a freshwater planted aquarium ( with live plants)?

Can the pH down affect fish if you put it in the water?

    1. Your answer is in the directions. With fish present do not lower the PH more than .2 in a 24 hour period.
