Highly Recommended For Large Rats!

I have two large fancy adult male rats, and this cage is perfect for them! They don't even come close to being able to fit between the bars. The bar spacing is one inch, so this cage wouldn't be for mice, hamsters, or babies. This cage is very true to the size measurements posted on the Petco listing. I love how it has side doors that open to the entire cage, and a slide out pan underneath (that slides out on either side of the cage). It's perfect for my little guys, and I highly recommend it for adult large fancy rats!

I searched for Rat cages and kept getting the ware series. It never said not suitable for rats. My new pet rat is in a temporary "starter" kit I had to run out and buy that I hold my breath every time I go down that she's still there. I will keep the ferret cage but will have to reinforce it with hardware cloth because the bar spacing is too far apart before I can get a companion for the single kid.

High-End Looking & Sturdy

I love that the cage is black so it hides a lot of the grime and gives the appearance of cleanliness when I haven't got around to cleaning. It put together fairly easily; I did it in about 2 hours or so. The bars are very sturdy and not easily bent. The bottom tray feels a bit flimsy, but I haven't had any issues with it as of yet. My only complaint is that the ramps can be a bit steep and the groves on the ramp are not deep enough for my fuzzie to get traction. He manages though.

Not the quality expected

I bought this cage online and based my decision on both price and reviews. The price was just okay at least I did not pay full price for this cage. This product does not deserve the high marks from other reviewers. It was easy to assemble but that is the only positive quality of this cage. The shelving, ramps and bottom are made of cheap plastic. The ramps are so slippery my ferrets cannot get up or down them. The large side doors have locks on each side that are no way secure. My ferrets are too smart and can easily lift the latch to escape. I have to tie these side doors shut which eliminates any convenience there would be if the locking mechanisms were functional. I have had this cage for about 2 weeks and the plastic shelving is already warping and coming off the bars. It seems as if whoever designed it had good intentions but missed the mark where quality and a ferrets needs was concerned.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Ware ferret cage

Recd cage in less than a week. Well packed for shipping. Easy to assemble. Pieces fit well. No damage from shipping. Very sturdy and attractive cage. My ferret loves it. Ramps were too slippery for ferret to climb. Took low temp glue gun and traced the lines on ramp. Problem solved. Bottom pan is a little flimsy. Overall great cage.

Slight Problem, Hopefully Fixed

I ordered this online and received it quickly. However, the tray was damaged and broken and couldn't be placed in the slot. I ended up calling the manufacture to see if I could get it replaced. (Call, don't e-mail, as I got no response). I had to send pictures of the box, the broken piece, and proof of purchase to show evidence of their error. Took a week, but they e-mailed me to let me know I was being sent a new tray. Ugh, so frustrating and hopefully my new tray will be coming. I was so tempted to just take it all back, but I had already assembled it and it was really heavy. THAT ASIDE, the overall structure of this cage is good. I personally don't even like the tray that comes with it because it's so flimsy compared to the rest of the cage. I may even find something to give it some support underneath because it's just cheap plastic. I was rather disappointed. The size is great though. I am using this for my single male chinchilla, and the new space he's going to have is wonderful. After almost two weeks of purchase, I can't wait to finally get him in there!

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have six beautiful ferrets, they are all my lil babies and the cage that I had them in was cheep and they desperately needed a new one, I went on line to petco and there it was, a mansion! I have never seen my lil babies so happy. they love the multi levels and the slides, and it is soo easy to clean, the bottom slides out and the doors on the side make it so easy to reach in and clean and access their food dish. love how heavy it looks and the style of the metal. loving it as much as they do!

Yes, I recommend this product.

    1. I have two large fancy rats and this cage is big enough for them. If you have three ferrets you make want to look into purchasing the larger version of this cage. Otherwise this cage maybe all right for one to two ferrets as long as they have out of cage play time.

          1. Hello, thank you for your inquiry. Without knowing exactly how big your pet is, I can't precisely tell you if the WARE Living Room Series Ferret Home would be too small or not. If you do have concerns, you might want to try the WARE Living Room Series Ferret/Chincilla Home. I hope this has been helpful.

Would this cage work for a couple of guinea pigs?

          1. Hello. Thank you for your inquiry. The Living Room Series Ferret home is designed for ferrets and chincilla's. We do not suggest putting two guinea pigs in this cage as it might be difficult for them to get up and down the ramps to the upper levels safely. We suggest the Living Room Series guinea pig cage for your pets. I hope this has been helpful.

Is there a grate/floor above the pull-out tray where the litter is? Or would the animal(s) walk in the litter?

          1. No grate in the bottom. They walk in the litter.
