Wonderful product

My lab has had multiple "food challenges" due to vomiting and itching. I have had her on very, very expensive prescription foods...some of which she refused to eat. I started doing an online review of dog foods and found Wellness Senior (both my dogs are 10 years old). Both dogs like this food; I like the ingredients and no more stomach problems or excessive itching with my lab.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent Results

Finally a food my dogs will eat without me having to "doctor" it up with broth or gravy etc. We have a Chow Shepherd mix 14 yrs old and a Shepherd Lab mix 10yrs old, both are rescues. We have seen noticeable results in skin and coats becoming softer and thicker. Best of all skin dryness is no longer a problem, which means no more scratching! Also, I was able to take the 10 yr old off joint meds, he was feeling more energetic and much less sore after long walks and playtime. We were feeding the Blue Buffalo for a long time and just did not get these kind of results. I am so happy with this Wellness line of food and treats. Thank you for a fabulous natural healthy product!

Yes, I recommend this product.

With the prevalence of cancer in the breed, it is very hard to get a Golden Retriever to the age of 12. My sweet Whisper turned 14 years old about three months ago! She had a thorough physical at her vet's yesterday and she is in EXCELLENT health. Complete blood panel -- Perfect! Urinalysis -- Perfect! Ears -- Perfect, no scarring from allergies or infections over the years. ( she has had none.). Eyes -- mild cataracts NOT affecting her vision, Teeth -- Excellent considering she has NEVER had a dental! Of course, good genetics play a part for this little whisp of a girl despite being backyard bred. But she has been on Wellness since I got her at the age of 18 months! It's an excellent food and has no doubt prolonged her life!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Gas and Diarrhea

I tried this food as it was a recommended brand by my vet. After a few weeks of transitioning my dog to this new food, she had terrible reactions to it, including horrible smelling gas, diarrhea, and some vomiting. I also tried this food in the blue bag. She had an accident in the house and her urine caused the entire place to smell like fish. She also gained weight visibly in her hips. I would not recommend this product to anyone and will be going back to her original food.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great product! My dog loves it! Before he was on this food he was lazy and overweight because of the kind of food we were feeding him. Now he is acting like a puppy again and is lively. Highly recommended.

Questions

Is Wellness senior food 5k grain free?

  1. Wellness Senior is not grain free, it contains rice bran. The Wellness Simple Solutions line of foods is grain free, and so is their CORE line, but the CORE line has higher levels of protein and fat, if your dog isn't particularly active the CORE diet could make him/her gain weight. If your dog has dry skin or dandruff, try mixing a little salmon oil or cold-pressed, extra virgin olive into his/her meals. (about 1/4 teaspoon) Both are good sources of Omega Fatty Acids, which is known to help dry skin.

My 14 yr old Jack RTerrier, the Vet think she has Pancreatis, some leasons on her spleen & liver.Whats the best food for her?

  1. Dogs with Pancreatis need a low fat diet (10% fat or less) . A really good quality food to consider is Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Frozen Diets. You also might try Blue Buffalo Life Protection Adult Small Breed Healthy Weight (10% fat), Precise Holistic Complete Senior (9% fat), or Premium Edge Weight II Weight Control Formula (9% fat). There are others, you need to read the labels of the different products. Rather than dog biscuits, try givin g a baby carrot or two or an apple wedge (no seeds). They are healthy treats dogs usually love. If you can't get your dog to eat the food that will help her condition, try mixing in a little non-fat (or low fat) cottage cheese or cooked egg white to tempt her into eating. 3 small meals a day is better for dogs with Pancreatis.

My dog has had pancreatitis..He needs a low fat dog food...What would you suggest..Also he is 14 years old...

  1. Royal Canin LF is suppose to be the lowest in fat of the dry foods. My little Yorkie is on it for CIL. I wasn't given much hope but with the RC LF and me adding about a Tablespoon of whipped potatoes (potatoes cooked and then mixed with the water off of themselves), 1/4 tsp of fiber powder and 1/4 of a capsule of ginger with each meal, he has responded so well I have not, as yet, had to put him on any meds. Good luck with your baby.
