Assemble reptile terrarium with assortment of plants, rock dens, and bedding. Place the Slimline Reptile Fixture on top of the terrarium cover. A screen cover with door or center hinge is recommended, as it will allow the beneficial UV rays to reach the terrarium inhabitants easily, while allowing easy access to your reptile. Caution: Do not place fixture in direct contact with water. When mounting under a cabinet or hood, position the light fixture so the tropical lamp will provide maximum exposure of beneficial light to your reptile pets.

I bought two different UVB lights for my reptile cages. This one is probably my favorite.

I got this for my Leopard Geckos, even though they are nocturnal. I have noticed for a few months now that my geckos come out in the evening and bask a little bit before the light gos off. So I figured why not get this light as well and give them a little UVB as well. They have show better color and are a lot more active. This fixture also lights the terrarium well and evenly.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Light works great, just have to remove the plastic cover. If you have trouble with getting it to turn on, make sure the bulb is in place. Making it rotate so its in the slots correctly takes a little bit of pushing pressure, dont worry, these bulbs are stronger than you think. Just dont man handle it, use some finesse.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice light casing and convenient on and off switch. Bought it for my Bearded Dragon to replace on that stopped working and I like this one much better. Seems sturdy.

When I got the light it wouldn't turn on, so I took it apart and some of the plastic parts inside were broken and the lamp wasn't secure. After I got the lamp secure I put it together and I worked fine. Now that its working I like it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have had to exchange the lamp three times already. Each time the lamp has only lasted about 3 to 6 weeks then it starts to flicker and flicker and flicker and either keeps flickering or eventually burns the bulb out. Other than that it is one of the best lamp kits I have found.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I think this product works great. It came with the fixture and the bulb that seems to work pretty well and it wasn't too expensive. If you just use this fixture with the bulb it works great. It's great for my leopard gecko because it needs some light but not a massive amount. It helps create the desert feel that my gecko needs to make sure it stays healthy.

Yes, I recommend this product.

what size bulb does it use

  1. This would use an 18" bulb (the bulb that it comes with is SKU: 1273515).

Just bought T8 Flourescent bulb replacement. What's the trick for getting old one out and putting new one in?

  1. There are a couple deep holes on the back side of the fixture. Using a long screwdriver, remove the screws that are down in the holes. This will allow you to remove the plastic bulb covering. The bulb twists out and just put the new one in and put the lens back on.

Can I use this with a baby anole lizard?

  1. yes but it might be a bit to strong so i recemend using a tropical uv light trust me i have 5 anoles 3 babys and 2 adults

Is this good for my bearded dragon?

  1. i own a bearded dragon but if you want yours to grow fast get repti sun 10.0 wich i have but if you want this one its good to it just doesent grow to fast and this ones cheaper but you might wnt to change the bulb to a 10.0 but just so you know this only provides UVB but repti sun 10.0 (The one I have) provides UVB and UVA.

How many watts is this light.

  1. The 18" Bulb is 15 watts.

I see from some comments that the bulb can be changed - how do you open the case to change the bulb?

  1. there are screws on the back but there hard to reach so you might want to buy a small screw but remember to unscrew the right screws because others can take you to the wires

The Zilla Desert Series 50 Strip Lamp has a note on it that reads, "Remove lens for UVA and UVB output ." Should it be removed?

  1. YES!!! REMOVE THE LENS IMMEDIATELY.
