Assemble reptile terrarium with assortment of plants, rock dens, and bedding. Place the Slimline Reptile Fixture on top of the terrarium cover. A screen cover with door or center hinge is recommended, as it will allow the beneficial UV rays to reach the terrarium inhabitants easily, while allowing easy access to your reptile. When mounting under a cabinet or hood, position the light fixture so the tropical lamp will provide maximum exposure of beneficial light to your reptile pets.

this product is very easy to use & that's a definite plus in my book :D the only bad thing to this product is the clear plastic that comes with it that covers the light, but the plastic is removable after you unscrew two screws on the other side of the product, & you now have a usable light! :D i just set mine on top of my red eared slider turtles' tank & i'm done.

Yes, I recommend this product.

the light itself is a very good replacement for my old hood. the light has an acrylic (i guess?) lens that can be removed easily via two screws as to not hamper the rays. above the light in the base it actually has a tin material that reflects all the rays from up in the light back down which was a nice touch. my gripe about this light is that i have it on an automatic timer and the light does not fire on 100% of the time... probly just a little defect in mine though.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Ok on the fixture itself it says to remove the acrylic...all you need to do is unscrew it and the cover comes off and you have a usable light.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This fixture has an acrylic cover over the bulb. Acrylic filters out UVB light, which is what reptiles need most. This lens cover makes the whole thing useless and a waste of money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have a 20" 10-gallon aquarium, but the light fixture broke on it. I still have the existing hood. Would I be able to use this fixture with it?

  1. While this would be a great bulb to use, the fixture would not fit onto a plastic 10g aquarium hood. When looking into replacing this light fixture, I might also suggest looking into a larger aquarium (at least 20 gallons) as this turtle will outgrow a 10 gallon very quickly.

i need a bulb that dose uvb and uva

  1. Thank you for your question animalhouse1. For a long tailed grass lizard I would recommend the Tropical 25. This light provides a full dosage of UVB (25 microwatts per second/cm2) along with essential UVA light. As a bonus, Tropical 25’s full-spectrum visible light output helps bring out subtle colors in a reptile’s skin that makes everyday viewing more dramatic.

does the white one give off UVB/UVA?

  1. Thank you for your question Hamsterxoxxx. The Zilla Mini Halogen fixture is intended as a heat lamp. I would suggest a fluorescent fixture in addition to this heat lamp. For Chameleons a Tropical 25 UVB light is recommended with 25 microwatts per second/cm2 of UVB along with essential UVA light.

what do the #s stand for on the UV lamps??

  1. Thank you for your question johnny08. The #'s on the Tropical (25) & Desert (50) UV lamps refer to the microwatts per second/cm2 of UVB. UVB is a vital component of healthy bone development, and different types of animals need different amounts of UVB. Tropical bulbs with 25 microwatts per second/cm2 of UVB are ideal for these tropical and temperate dwelling reptiles: Anoles, Day Geckos, Tokay Geckos, Iguanas, Basilisks, Chameleons, Chinese Water Dragons, Tegus, Red-Eared Sliders, Red Foot Tortoises and Eastern Box Turtles Desert bulbs with 50 microwatts per second/cm2 of UVB are ideal for Desert Dwelling Reptiles: Bearded Dragons, Uromastyx, Frilled Dragons, Horned Lizards, Collared Lizards, Chuckwallas, Sulcata Tortoises, Leopard Tortoises, Russian Tortoises, Savannah Monitors and Nile Monitors

does the product come with the light and lamp fixture? would it be good for a 20 gallon high tank?

  1. The product name says "Fixture" in it... and if you read the description, it states that it comes w/ one bulb. :o) You're welcome!

Can I pu one 50 uv bulb in this lamp

  1. Yes
