Instructions Pour contents of bag into the bottom of terrarium. Depth of Vita-Sand should be 1 1/2" or less. Do not use under tank or heat pad type heaters if using more than 1 1/2" depth of Vita-Sand. Clean out debris as needed with sifter, litter scoop, or spoon. Replace Vita-Sand if foul or musty smell persists, or at least every six months. Warning If your animal has a propensity for consistent substrate ingestion, the manufacturer recommends that you: Check your husbandry by reading a good reptile book on your specific species, as this could be an indicator of other problems. Make sure you are using Zoo Med's ReptiSun 5.0 UVB or PowerSun UV Lamp with your desert species of lizard or tortoise. If consistent substrate ingestion persists, you may want to use Zoo Med's ReptiCage Carpet instead. Vita-Sand is not a replacement for dietary supplements. Made in USA.

This sand is my favorite substrate to use for my bearded dragon. It provides a natural-looking habitat and is a fine grade sand, making it less likely than other sands to cause problems due to ingestion.

Yes, I recommend this product.

My tortoise really likes this sand. I don't have to worry about impaction if he eats it. It holds the heat nicely. It's a bit dusty, but he gets rinsed off every couple of weeks and the white does not stain like some of the other colors. The sand cleans up really easily which is good because he's a messy guy.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Calcium Sand Types

Will Vita Sand impact my Cali king snake?

how many bags of white vita sand would I need for for a 30 gallon aquarium?

      1. First of all vita sand comes in different weights. You would probably need to get 2-3 ten (10) pound bags of vita sand. I have a 10-20 gallon long tank and one ten (10) pound bag is not enough. Also it depend on your animal, meaning if he/she like to dig. Also it is a good idea to get a under tank heater (U.T.H). These can range from 20 dollars all the way up to $49.99. Hope this helps.
