Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Fish continually release ammonia into the aquarium through their gills, urine and solid waste. Uneaten food and decaying organic matter also add ammonia to the water. Even small amounts of ammonia stress fish; large amounts of ammonia will kill fish. Ammonia is the #1 killer of freshwater fish. API AMMO-LOCK Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Ammonia Detoxifier works instantly to detoxify ammonia, chlorine, and chloramines in fresh and saltwater aquariums. It protects fish cells and promotes healthy gill function by eliminating fish stress caused by ammonia. API AMMO-LOCK Ammonia Detoxifier Freshwater and Saltwater Aquarium Treatment does not remove ammonia from water; it converts it to a non-toxic form. For best results, use as directed on the product label. If your aquarium tests positive for ammonia, do a partial water change, then neutralize the ammonia with API AMMO-LOCK Ammonia Detoxifier Aquarium Treatment.

  • - Detoxifies ammonia in aquarium water and tap water with natural active ingredients
  • - Works instantly to make aquarium water safe for fish
  • - Eliminates fish stress caused by ammonia in freshwater and saltwater aquariums

Great for Goldfish

BarbsAnimals

I have goldfish which tend to naturally release a lot of ammonia, and this helps to keep the water safe. I don't have to use it very often, so I would say it's super effective. Note - I keep my 4 goldfish in a 30+ gallon tank with filter, heater and air pump (just like you would for tropical fish). I know many people don't provide this for their goldfish, but I have to say mine are thriving, bright and active.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I had a huge ammonia spike (off the charts above 8 ppm!!!) and i used this every day until my ammonia naturally went down, and never lost a fish! I wouldn't recommend trying to duplicate this, but in an emergency, it worked for me!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not Sure About Directions

  1. I would follow the directions to the 7th day and test water. Then wait 3-4 days and test again. Hopefully the ammonia reading will be pretty accurate at that time. Good luck!
