one of my fish was very sick ,one eye was full of cotton type growth.also was not eating and scales were swoolen .a couple of the other fish were also sick.i followed the instructions and put the medicine in the tank. the water turned very cloudd and a short time later the worst sick fish turned uopside down and was shaking.i took this fish and put it in a floating tank by itself. the tank with the meds is a 55 gal tank.the fish that was separated was still upside down acting strange. I expecited it to be dead the next morning. well the fish was upright and looked much better .a few days later the fish and all my other fish are all cured and swimming around like crazy.these are good size fish and I cant believe from near death to great health.boy this stuff works. thank you.

I used this product to get rid of the white fungus around my fish's nostrils and it seems to work. I have a 50 gal tank and you go through it kinda fast since it requires a week of dosage. But I would buy it again.

Yes, I recommend this product.

On the rare chance my fish get a disease, I treat them with both, Pima and Mela. The directions say treat for 7 days. Most times, the disease is gone in 3 or 4 days. Great product.

Are Mela and Pima safe for use with scale-less fish, such as plecos or knife-fish?

  1. I have used both Melafix and Pimafix to successfully treat bacterial infections (fin erosion) for upside down catfish (synodontis nigriventris), and they are scaleless and very sensitive fish. The Pimafix seems to actually sedate them, so I only use it a few days along with the Melafix for a severe infection. Otherwise, only Melafix is needed. It usually happens after I've just bought them and they have been stressed. I heal them up in a quarantine tank with no lighting. These fish like it dim!

Melafix and/or pimafix???

  1. Yes, you can use MelaFix and PimaFix both at the same time. I use them both at the same time as directed on the bottles. I don't adjust or split the dosages. My fish heal quickly and are back to being healthy and happy in no time. It works wonders. Hope this helps

Water change?

    API PIMAFIX

    1. Hey, this is from trial and error on a betta, so be warned that my advice may not carry over for your species of fish. My Betta is given to fin rot (we got him that way with advanced fin rot, he was a rescue buy), so as a preventative I add this to his water once or twice a month at only 1 dosage the same day I do a 25-40% water change. So far no issues what so ever. Just be sure not to over-medicate, and not to do too frequently as you may not only harm his slime coat or poison him (tea tree oil is poisonous to most animals in high dosages or if taken internally), but might also kill all of the good bacteria in the substrate. And it does not color the water in your tank.
