I have a favorite Aqueon 15 gallon tower. The odd little bulb finally went out. I was able to get the exact bulb even though probably not a big seller. I appreciate F & S stocking so many.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This bulb works great in my freshwater aquarium. The colors seem to have a bit of yellow tint so I'll probably try a different type of Aqueon bulb next time.

Yes, I recommend this product.

NOT 8000K BULBS!!!!!

These bulbs may be "daylight" but they are definitely not 8000k. They are very green in color, and make my tank look like a freshwater lake. I purchased them because of the advertised color only. The original All Glass Aquarium bulbs were true 8000k, and were very blue to violet colored. These made the tank look great. I am very disappointed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought this light hoping to illuminate my aquarium and at the same time help with plant growth but every time I receive one of these lights it's dead by the next morning. Just my personal experience.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Would this bulb work in a planted tank?

  1. That might depend on the kinds of plants you have. I had this bulb on an aquarium moderately planted with anubias and java fern, both of which have low light needs. They grew very well. I soon had algae too, but that might have been because I accidentally left the light on too long for a couple of days (timers are highly recommended). On my 5.5 gallon aquarium, the light was brighter than I liked. It actually created glare on my light-medium brown gravel, which I found unpleasant.

Freshwater light bulb

  1. The ballast wouldn't do that- it is designed to limit the current through the bulb since these type bulbs cannot self limit like an incandescent bulb does. Compare the actual color spectrum the bulbs produce. This information should be on the box- if it's not then you may have to contact the manufacturer. The relative strength of the colors in the light cannot be accurately seen by looking at the bulb light itself- it shows up in the objects that are illuminated.

The bulb I need is the thinner of the two but I cannot find the correct one. I need an 18" full spectrum. The number on my bulb is Aqueon F8T512

  1. Thank you for your question. Here is a link to all the full spectrum bulbs we offer: http://pet-supplies.drsfostersmith.com/search?p=Q&lbc=drsfostersmith&uid=974874346&ts=custom&w=18%22 full spectrum&isort=score&method=and&view=grid&af=cat1:fish type:product&visitorID=Jake&cartcount=0&wishcount=0&division=dogs&cartcount=0

I purchased an Aqueon 25 gallon kit that came with light fixture that had 2 18 inch bulbs that are thinner than other bulbs . Where can I find replace

  1. This is the correct style bulb, but you will need an 18" version. 18" T5 replacement lamp. Just be careful not to get one that says "HO" as this would require a different fixture to power it.

lighting comparison

  1. 10k is a little bluer than 8k. This is different than its ability to accurately render colors. The rated CRI (color rendering index) gives an approximation of that quality.

Re: 24 inch, T8 & T10.

  1. Thank you for your question. We have attached a link below which contains a 24" 20w Full spectrum T8 bulb: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=12763

Light bulb question!

  1. It is not a "daylight" bulb according to the importer. I'm disappointed in the color compared to my true "daylight" bulb. Colors in my other 3 tanks w/full spectrum lights are muted compared to my "daylight" bulb.
