Bayer Tapeworm Dewormer

  1. Thank you for your question. Bayer does recommend that you crumble this and give it with food as an option for being unable to take the pill whole. You may reach out to Bayer at 800-255-6826 for other recommendations.

Do I need to treat all of the cats in a multi-cat household or just symptomatic one(s)?

  1. Hello, I've been fostering cats for a rescue group for quite a number of years, as well as having many cats of my own over the last 20+ years; we currently have 8. It has been my experience, since fleas are the causative agent with tapeworms, that if one has them, they all will. Just because you don't see them on every cat doesn't necessarily mean they all aren't affected. Any time we encounter a flea infestation (happens about twice a year, in Spring and Fall), we treat every cat for both fleas and worms. Best wishes.

How often is each dose given and for how long?

  1. Thank you for your question. A single dose should kill any tapeworms in the cat's system. If reinfection occurs, tapeworm segments may be observed within one month of the initial treatment and the cat should be treated again at that time.
