Gate does everything we want. And its nice to look at.
Easy to install, except for the screws. The screws were too short. I bought 1-1/4 inch screws. I had to attach one side though the wall board to the stud behind.
Gate is easy to open and close.

This gate is good quality and it looks nice. It has an easy closure but is very loud when closing. We have it just leaning so that our dog can not push it open. Great gate, noise may not bother all.

We bought another gate a while back, similar to this, but it was WOOD.. well, duh the dogs gnawed through it!. We got this but it was a bit too narrow, so I ordered the extender and it came quickly, was SO easy for my husband to put together and it is aaaaamaaaaazing! It's perfect for the dogs (even our "Houdini dog" can't get past or under or over it. It's VERY sturdy, and yet easy for us to open and easy close. We FINALLY can stop stacking up chairs and flimsy fences in our big entryway between our kitchen and the rest of the house. They stay in there now, all content and happy on their dog bed in our big kitchen and don't get into any trouble. Thanks Cardinal Gates!!!

This gate really met or exceeded my expectations compared to other gates we have tried. I installed in in my entry and it was very simple to install. The best features are that the gate auto-locks when I close it, and that the entire gate swings open so my entryway opening is not obstructed at all by the gate if we need to carry in some furniture, ect.
The gate is sturdy too. Since I have small dogs, I advise that you install the gate lower on the wall than what the directions say. They say start at least 6" from the floor, but that left too big of a gap, so I installed like 1.5 in. and it is fine.

I have found the perfect solution for my home with the Cardinal Auto-Lock Pet Gate. This aluminum gate is lightweight, opens quickly and easily for pass-through, and keeps our four dogs in a safe area when we are not at home! Problem solved!

How strong is this gate? Will it stay screwed in the wall with 3 big American Pit bulls pushing on it?
- Thanks for your question! Because the latch design offers more strength in the scenario you presented, we recommend the STAIRWAY SPECIAL, Petco.com SKU 1309587, rather than the Auto-Lock Pet Gate. Our gates are rated for a 45lb "push" test but not designed to support weight for prolonged periods of time. Another suggestion is to beef up the screws used to install the gate. Instead of using the hardware included, you could opt for larger/longer ones from your local hardware store. That might help, too. Hope this helps!

Will this gate Cardinal Pet Gates Auto-Lock Pet Gate, WHITE, MG-15 fit an opening of 40.5 inches, maybe 40 inches?
- Thanks for your question. The MG-15's width is adjustable from 26 ½" to 40 ½, so it should span your 40.5 or 40-inch space without issue. Width extensions are available in two sizes (10.5 inches and 21.75 inches) if more width is needed. Each is sold separately. Thanks!

How high off the floor is the mounting for the Cardinal Pet Gates Auto-Lock Pet Gate, WHITE, MG-15. My baseboard is almost 5 inches high.
- Thanks for your question. Instructions indicate mounting the hinge bracket at 6.5 inches up from the floor. This leaves the bottom of the gate a clearance of about 1.5 inches off the floor. You can install it higher but max recommended space between gate bottom and floor is no greater than 3 inches.

What is bar spacing on gate? My dog is toy fox terrier--looks too wide?
- The bar spacing on the Autolock Gate, Model MG-15, is 2.5 inches. The attached photo shows the gate with a couple of Yorkies, if that helps provide some reference. Unsure how your toy fox terrier compares in size. Hope this helps! Thanks for your question.

Pet Gate: What is the difference between 1309650 and 1309595?
- Thanks for your question. The color is the only difference between 1309650 and 1309595. The other gate you mentioned, 1309544, is the Duragate, a completely different gate model. It's steel. The other is aluminum. The latch is completely different and yes, harder to open. The Duragate is the only gate model that can support height extensions--something that might be a consideration if your Boxer is tall and/or a jumper! See photo below with height extension.

Does Cardinal pet gate SKU 1309595 come in black?
- Thanks for your question. Yes, this gate model is available in black. Search #1309650 on PETCO.com. Our VersaGate is available in Wood (#1455656 on PETCO.com). The Autolock Pressure Gate is also available in Wood (#1455737 on PETCO.com). It is completely different from the SKU you mentioned and the one referenced in the second sentence. Hope this helps!
