I like just about everything about this door, except the smaller 'kitty' door at the bottom. Since I don't want that little door to accidentally get shut (preventing the cat from using her litter box) I would like to just remove it permanently. But there is no way to do this because the door appears to be welded within the larger gate. If I try to tie the kitty door open, it still sticks partway open and gets in the way either when the main gate is open, or when it is closed. I wish there was just a couple of screws that I could remove to eliminate the kitty door. But as it is I'm thinking of taking a file to it to remove it.

Easy to install. My giant puppy can't get over it, but my cats can get through it, even without the cat door. For strong dogs such as mine, it's best to install with door opening towards the area where you want your dog to stay. If installed the other way, with door opening away from the area where you wish to confine your dog, your dog may be able to open it. Does not require drilling into the door frame. Sturdy, well made. I've had one for more than 10 years, but with my clever new puppy, I need more than one, to secure another doorway from him.

I bought this product for the top of our basement stairs to keep the babies/toddlers upstairs but also allow the kitties access to the upstairs. Works great, husband installed in less than 10 min. No complaints!!

We bought one of these gates to keep our three large dogs out of the cats' room, and it has worked very well. When we decided to foster a pregnant beagle from the local shelter this summer, we bought a second to keep the puppies and their mom in our sunroom while allowing airflow and supervision. We attached hardware cloth to the gate using zip ties as the puppies were able to squeeze between the bars, but it still was a great help to us. It is sturdy and works very well. I have always been pleased with my purchases from Drs Foster and Smith.

I received this gate and it was severely busted up through I'm assuming the shipping. I called customer service and they immediately shipped me another gate. It is a very nice sturdy gate. The only complaint I have is I originally ordered a white one but the replacement I received is a chrome color. I needed to get the gate up so I just kept the chrome one.

i bought this to keep my cat out of an open closet (he's started peeing in there) and it works GREAT...it was super easy to install.....the bars are close enough together to keep the cat out and the gate works perfect to get stuff out of this closet....it was the perfect solution for my needs.....love it !!

This gate is a great height to keep our new cat separated from our other animals when we aren't home. It would not work for a kitten, because a small cat would be able to squeeze between the gaps in the bars, but for an older cat who doesn't jump like crazy, it does the trick. The cat door works as well, although somehow our 55 lb dog managed to squeeze through it when I was vacuuming. Also, the cat door needs a latch to keep it open. I'm using a bread tie to keep it from swinging around when it is left open. All in all, it is hard to find a tall gate, and I am very glad I bought it.

Could I get this gate set to fit a 70 inch opening?

Thank you DFSSarahC for the reply. However the gate is only adjustable between 29-34 inches, correct? So if you add two 24 inches extensions you have 29+24+24=77 inches at a minimum, which is too big for our 70 inch opening. Thanks.

I have a space of approx. 58" I'd like to close off from my dogs. Will this work?

Yes it will work with the 24-inch extension...the pressure mount plates (two on the top rail, two on the bottom) have quite a bit of leeway. My opening is 60 inches and I could easily adjust to fit 58.
