Drs. F & S Premium Pond Salt is a wonderful product that I have been buying repeatedly for the past couple years. It helps to keep my fish healthy year-round by preventing disease and to increase the oxygen content of the water so it's easier for my fish to breathe. It's especially important to keep the correct amount of the salt level consistent during the hot summer days, and also during the winter months as it slows down the freezing rate of the water. I buy the economical 9 lb size which comes in a bucket that I can reuse once the container is empty. My only complaint is that these buckets are extremely difficult to open by hand but they are fairly easy to open with a pair of pliers to pull the ring that opens the lid.

It isn't the size of rocks, but small granules that disperse very quickly. I love this and save the buckets as they are very handy. Great product!!

I purchased two buckets of the pond salt just to see if it would have a positive effect on my koi and goldfish. Using the guide, I added the salt to various parts of the pond (1600 gallons) being careful not to salt the plants. Two weeks later, the fish have increased activity and the plants are doing well. Since we didn't have specific problems, I can't say for sure that parasites are gone or that a health issue has been fixed. But a spa visit just makes you feel better and that is what the salt is supposed to do for koi. For 1600 gallons, I used a 9# bucket and about 3 cups of the second bucket. I plan to add small amounts periodically when the pond water is partially drained and fresh water is added.

Been a pond keeper for fifteen years, of those, for the last twelve I have used another national brand of pond salt which really was intended for aquariums, but was some what effective in the pond. This last month I decided to try Dr. Foster & Smith's pond salt. Wow, what a difference! The salt dissolves quickly almost before it hits the bottom of the pond. What little algae I had is now gone. The fish actually look better, not so much flashing, think the salt took care of what parasites they may have had. Just an excellent product. Keep up with the good products Drs. F & S, my fish appreciate it and so does my wallet!

I want to purchase the 2 pound Foster's Smith pond salt for a Koi bath in a 5-10 gallon bucket when I do my spring pond cleaning.

First of all I would call F/S customer service and talk to someone who will ask the right questions so you get the correct answers. Treatment depends on what you are trying to accomplish. They will also figure the correct amount to be used. F/S Pond Salt is an excellent product use it myself.
