Product does not work once dog has fleas

Unknowingly I picked up fleas on my dog while traveling. I have not had fleas for years, and had no flea protection on my dog. Several weeks after returning from the trip, my dog started scratching, and had fleas. I immediately applied Frontline Plus, and vacuumed and sprayed. Also, used Capstar. After one month I applied Frontline Plus again, but it seems to have no effect. I continue to wash the dog, bedding, spray, and vacuum. Someone told me Frontline Plus does not work this year. Try another product l Anyone else have this problem?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Frontline Plus for dogs

I am not happy with this product. I know it was always rated an excellent product, but, this year when the FLEAS were out of control and nothing seemed to kill them, I thought Frontline Plus would do the job. It did a Fair job. We had to put two doses on our dog about a week and half apart to even put a dent in killing the fleas. She is still having issues with them and we have one dose left. We have never had a flea issue in the eleven years she has been with us until this year so I don't know why she is still suffering but maybe the frost will eliminate the fleas because nothing else we have used this summer has worked for more than a few days.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We've been using this on our dogs for years. Haven't had any flea problems at all. We are very careful about ticks, but they have not presented a significant problem either. We have been very pleased with this product.

  1. I use this product to protect my pets against fleas and ticks, not mosquitoes. I've seen flies near and on them on occasion. Haven't noticed mosquitoes but that doesn't mean they do not come around.

Is Frontline Plus effective against deer ticks?

  1. It is supposed to be. However, my dog did get lyme disease while using this product. It seems effective for fleas but, you will see an occasional tick even when using this product.

people have said not to let the dog get wet for 48 hrs after applying frontguard plus. The dog has to go out if it is raining.

  1. According to the directions, as long as the dosage dried first, your dog should be protected. I've been using Frontline Plus for over a decade, and have taken my dogs out later, after application, when it's raining, and have never had a problem. I hope this helps.
