This Aqua Clear Amrid 500 works as stated to remove ammonia from my fresh water African Cichlid tank. The cost is expensive and I think you should offer these in 3 packs at a reduced cost.

Other media is better

I used the foam media to find it clogs too easily. I switched to regular floss and it works better. I also don't use the carbon and instead use Purigen from Seachem along with Matrix or De-Nitrate. It keeps the water cleaner without removing valuable trace elements or adding phosphates.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Especially quiet workhorse keeping tank sparkling

AquaClear HOB filters (especially quiet) efficient & easy to maintain. Carbon on all their filters is a workhorse keeping tank's desired stats. Biological media the same efficiency. Tank is in my office & silent filtration is mandatory. AquaClear provides this.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The Foam Inserts...

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. Our records indicate the 20/Mini Foam 3 pk, CD-350113 are the Foam filters that fit the power filter you have.

bio medi bag for fish aquarium

  1. I replace mine 1-2 times per year. I don't have very many fish in my aquarium (currently a silver dollar, 2 swordtails and a tetra), so it doesn't get very dirty. With more fish, you may need to replace more often.

I thought media like bio max worked when the water was dripping thru it for better bacteria growth, mine is constinitly submerged.

  1. Only wet dry system work that way. Bio media is basically as effective in a submerged form. Canister filter and such are completely pressurized. I is a heavy material it will stay submerged and work just fine.

Bio Max

  1. I general replace mine once or twice a year. I replace the charcoal every 2-3 months depending on number of fish in my aquarium and how clean it stays. The sponges I also replace every 2-3 months, while rinsing clean in between.

would like to know if this is compatable to use in the tetra pond waterfall filter

  1. Possibly I would look at bioballs or something cheaper if you need a lot.
