The space and lay out is awesome for Rats! You can add extra shelves, a large hideout and a wheel. My one annoyance with it is that the escape proof front door is a pain to open. However the quality of the cage and the ease of the build were worth it, especially since we got it on sale!

I had one ferret in this cage, than two. The plastic shelf is flimsy. My one ferret made it bend and look precarious, two is asking a little much. It needs more support. The ramp is difficult for my ferrets to climb, The plastic is slippery, and the raised bumps need to be larger for grip. I recommend putting some kind of cover on it for grip. The horizontal bars create an easy climb for one of my ferrets, making this dangerous for her, and frustrating when she uses it to get into other areas. The base seems to hold excrement into it, and is not easy to clean, as the description seems to imply. The litter box is ridiculously tiny, not allowing ferrets to get all four feet in as they need. The hammock is complete trash. Both of my guys refused to use it. I ended up buying a different one. The only thing this cage is good for? A travel cage, otherwise don't bother. Spend a bit more and get a quality cage with wide opening doors, and that are able to fit rectangular litter boxes.

It is a pretty cool cage and is fairly roomy, my two rats enjoy the climbing space. The water bottle however does not work and my rats are completely unable to drink from it. Sadly when you open the top door you have to keep it open or it bends part of the cage backwards.
