I purchased the High Tech Pet Radio Mat a couple of weeks ago for a unique situation. Our dog accompanies my husband to work and hangs out in the reception area of his office. There is a swinging door in and out of the reception area and our thought was to place it at that opening to keep him inside the reception area. The device comes with limited instructions. I placed the battery in and was hoping that we could just "contain" our dog with the sound. Unfortunately, every time anyone steps on the mat it beeps - somehow that didn't seem like an option - it would be beeping every time someone walked in or out the door. (Not sure if this is with all the mats or ours was "defective") We put it on "shock" - it gives quite a little "zap" - there is no warning ahead of time. We determined the area that would be "safe" (no shock) was about 1 foot away from where the mat was. This would have left very little area for him to roam and we were worried he'd get nervous about the collar going off so easily. (again...no warning) I realize we were asking quite a bit from this product, but we will need to return it. On the positive side it seems nicely made - if we were using it by a staircase, it might work. Couple of suggestions/negatives: better instructions, the sound shouldn't go off when you step on it (it should work the same as the shock feature). Petco site should also have more info (size, etc.) about the product - I had to determine this info from another web-site. Pricing was better at Petco than anywhere else - plus returning the product would be easier...We gave it a try, it just didn't work for us.
