Both the Hikari Algae Wafers and the Mini Algae Wafers are the favorite food source for my Ancistrus Plecos, Synodontus, Clown Loaches and Botias. As soon as these sinking circular wafers hit the water and slowly fall downward, my bottom-feeders dash out from all points of my 75 gallon tank and claim wafers for themselves. There are even little skirmishes as they compete for this dinner staple! I cannot do without this item.

I feed them in early evening and all of the six plecos in various tanks come out to the corner where I put them to make sure they get their share. Using it as a supplement to the natural occuring algae. If I give them to many tablets they forget to clean the glass.

My silver dollars go crazy over these wafers. As soon as they hit the water they catch them mid level and swim around with them in their mouths nibbling them. The angel fish follow the silver dollars around and peck at them. Fun to watch! My clown loaches , skunk loaches, and synodontis catfish like them also. The denison barbs and rainbow shark pick at them too. I would recommend them to anyone. Strangely enough if I buy any other brand of algae wafers no one seems to be that interested in them. Picky fish! It has to be Hikari for a feeding frenzy. I have to feed them at night for the whiptail catfish and pleco to get a chance to eat some! Good quality product. Cheapest at Foster Smith.

I BOUGHT THE 3OZ. MINI WAFERS. I HAVE CATFISH IN ALL MY FRESH WATER TANKS. IT TOOK ABOUT 2 DAYS FOR MY CATFISH TO FULLY DISCOVER THESE MINI WAFERS. THE SMALL SIZE OF THE WAFERS MAKE IT EASY FOR ME TO CONTROL THE AMOUNT AND DISTRIBUTION OF EACH FEEDING. I AM VERY CAREFUL NOT TO OVERFEED. IT TAKES APPROX. 1 TO 1 AND A HALF HOURS FOR MY CATFISH TO FULLY CONSUME THESE MINI WAFERS AND BECAUSE THE WAFERS ARE SLOW TO DISSOVE, I HAVE NO FEAR OF OVER FEEDING.

My bushy nose Plecos are crazy about these wafers. I break them before I feed them. They sink well. Other fish like swordtails and goodeids like it also.

Is there live algae in the hikari algae wafers? We are actually trying to grow algae and want to know if the spirulina in the wafters will work?
