K&H Self-Warming Crate Pads will capture the pet's body heat and radiate back the warmth to the source. The 4 corners are slit to allow the pad to fit many different edges. The adjustable size makes this pad fit into many different crates. The topside of the crate pad is made from soft, inviting microfleece while the bottom has a "stay pet" non-slip fabric to keep the pad from bunching up in the crate. Simply throw the whole pad in the wash for easy cleaning and care.

Don't Know How, But it Works

We bought this for our arthritic 13 year old cat for some extra warmth. I do not know how it is "self heating". She is very finicky for places to settle in and she seems to really like this! I did not give it 5 stars because of the price. Seems a bit overpriced to me.

will this keep a dog warm outside
- The Self Warming material will reflect the pet's heat back onto them which will help keep them warm, even outside.

Would a dog warming pad be suitable for an outside cat's house?
- I have used them for my feral cat houses and they like them, but I have them inside of an extra small Petbarn 3 dog house and it is covered and out of the wind and other elements. I also put straw inside the house, which also helps keep them warm and dry. You do need to be able to check the warming mat, to make sure it is dry. But my cats all seem to love to snuggle into these and are toasty warm when they come out of their houses to eat or drink. I am able to pet and hold my feral cats at times.
