I purchased this product for my small dog. It seemed an affordable way to try these heated beds out. My dog doesn't really prefer it, even when it's on. Perhaps because there's nothing to burrow in? There is a heated strand that runs through the bed, but it only heats up right around the strand... and I think it's not as hot as I expected. I'll be trying it inside his current bed, and see if he likes it better in there.
It was the cheapest one, so maybe it's not an indication of the other similar products. Just bought the K&H cat bed, and our cats love it. Find that one here: https://secure.petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?SKU=1500805
