Care & Feeding Instructions: When introducing a guinea pig to a new food, begin with a mixture of the old and new foods, gradually increasing the amount of the new food over a 7 to 10 day period. This will prevent digestive upsets as well as allowing your pet to adjust to something new. The following feeding amounts can be used as a starting point and should be adjusted to maintain a guinea pig's proper weight. The portions shown below are for one guinea pig. Adjust the amount if additional guinea pigs are fed. Feeding Amount: 2 Tbsp. Other Keys to keeping a healthy guinea pig. Keeping clean water is an essential component of a good pet care program. My pig is a picky pig and this is his favorite. I like that it is complete with everything he needs especially the vitamin C. He never turns this brand down. I have bought other brands but he doesn't seem to care for them.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I like the ingredients in this food. I love the fact that it has a long-lasting form of vitamin C. My guinea pigs do seem to like it. However, I had a problem with a lot of it turning to powder at the bottom of the food dish and the bag. It seemed I had to throw a lot of the crushed stuff out. I read other reviews and nobody mentioned that, so maybe I just had a bad bag? Other than that, I would recommend it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I got this food because the previous food I was purchasing was great, but was too expensive for a 2 pound bag. My two female guinea pigs absolutely LOVE this food! I buy the five pound bags which last me about a month for the two of them. It has loads of fiber and they thrive on it. Whenever I am pouring it in the bowl they squeak with excitement! The pellets contain vitamin C and I fead vegetables daily, but to be on the safe side I also put on 2-3 drops of vitamin C suppliment. This food is great, they love it and I love how healthy it is!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not a great buy for the amount of food you get, but nevertheless not a bad price. The quality is very good though and my guinea pigs enjoy it.

Questions

1 - 3 of 3 Questions

how often do you feed a guinea pig

  1. They should always have hay and guinea pig food in a bowl available at all times EVERY DAY. They should have fresh water as well. You can feed them fresh vegetables as a treat a few times a week. But they are nibblers and must have hay at all times or their teeth will grow too long. They also can not store vitamin C in their bodies and you must provide guinea pig food so that they get that every day.

do i have to still buy hay

  1. Yes because they consume a large amount of hay every day.

How long does each bag last for 2 guinea pigs?

  1. One 5lb bag should last two guinea pigs a couple weeks.
