My 13 yr old tuxedo cat has ongoing issues with constipation and on lactulose for years now. If I should miss a day or 2 he has severe impacting constipation, where the poo was hanging halfway out and I had to pull it out myself. He also had struvite kidney stones as a 1 yr old cat and got surgery. Lactulose even though it somewhat effective, really didn't soften stools too much. Is there a store bought stool softener that can be purchased?

Can I safetly give my cat Lactalose daily

Vet prescribed restoralax (PG3350) to treat on going constipation issues, but didn’t say how long she should stay on it. Is is safe for long term useage? Aprox 1/4 tsp x2 mixed in watered down wet food. It’s helping so if it causes no harm I’m hoping she can stay on it long term.

My cat is constipated and has been healing from a broken pelvis. He weighs around 3.2-3.5kg. The vet recommended that I should give him 5ml of lactulose twice a day, but that gives him diarrhoea. If i give him only one dosage, he is still constipated. How lactulose do you think should I give him?

Is there any possibility of clavamox and lactulose having a negative effect on a kitten when used together? My 3 to 4 week old foster is on day 4 of clavamox for her URI and had seemed to be better the last couple days. I gave her .4 ml of lactulose today as it is day 3 no BM and something now does not seem right. She seems very weak and abnormally tired. Gave 12 cc of SQ fluids and 1 cc of sugar water orally in case she was dehydrated or had low blood sugar but neither helped???

my 15 yearold overweight cat has constipation problems. Have been giving her lactulose on wet food which helps a lot but is very sugary and sticky and I am concerned if this is bad for her teeth and weight. My vet mentioned Crystalose which he thought could be sprinkled on her food but I can't find much about it. Do you have any suggestions? I tried Miralax which helped but not as well as lactulose. Hello. My 8 year old Shih Tzu is pooping but his stool is really firm and kinda hard. The vet is aware of the issue & gave Lactulose for future use as needed. Would Lactulose help? My Shih Tzu takes Lactulose as needed per his vet for occasional consipation. I’ve been giving him that along with only wet food. Today his stool is kinda soft. He has been taking NaturVet Quiet Moments Plus Melatonin but only half a chew at dinner. Vet did tell me to stop the Lactulose but should I stop the NaturVet Quiet Moments Plus Melatonin? I don’t see much far as side effects with that. Also should I start dry food back since his stool is softer? Thank you
