Tried these pellets when I got my first bird, Gizmo, almost 30 years ago. Except for some "treats" of fruit and seed balls on occasion, it is all I ever feed my birds. They stay healthy, Gizmo is now nearing 50 years old and is as active as ever, and my house stays clean, no messy seed shells everywhere. Added benefit is the birds love it. With having fostered over 20 birds, none of them have taken more than four days to completely switch from seed to exclusively eating these pellets. If you have problems with a bird not eating them chances are you just need to switch the size of the pellet - my Amazon will only eat the large Macaw size. This is a great product! One drawback is dogs love it too so unless you want to use it as a very expensive dog food, store it out of their reach.

I have used LaFeber's Premium Daily Diet for Parrots for 20 years for my Amazon. I also give her some seeds, vegetables and fruit, but these pellets are her main diet. She is a very healthy bird. I like that there are no artificial colors.

what is the shelf life for the pellets once opened?

jenbill, Thank you for your question. The recommended storage is to be kept at room temperature, out of any wet or dry conditions. As long as the product is stored properly once open, the product should be good for up to a year- year and a half.
