Mighty Mini LED Light

Purchased this light for a 5 gallon tank and was amazed by how bright it was! The white LED'S make the tank just Sparkle and the blue LED'S give it a wonderful shimmering look at night! The plants are loving it and the BETTA BOY has been more active than ever! Perfect for any smaller Tanks or as an additional light for larger Tanks.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I recently purchased this device as well as a LED light strip for under the top of the Aquarium. This gives out good lite in my 30 gal but lite does not reach either side. the Lite strip I bought has 75% less lights BUT covers the same area. Light strip was $5 cheaper too.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I've already lost two of these to corrosion of the connection to the light!! The screws are so small and corroded the I couldn't take the light apart to connect the power directly so the units were JUNK! Maybe a bit of vaseline in the connection would solve the problem!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice light, but didn't last

I like this light. I thought it was nice but it was too short for a 10 gallon tank and I knew this when I bought it. I felt like the fish could go where the light didn't light the tank if they wanted to get out of the light for awhile. The thing I didn't like was it only lasted a short time-about a year. If Marineland could improve it so it would last longer I would buy again. The switch for the light was cheaply made as well. I liked that it was narrow. Some lights do.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I ordered the LED Aquarium Light and received it right away! My old one had stopped working and my poor fishies were in the dark! The new light works wonderfully and the price was great! I will order again from Doctors Foster and Smith!

Yes, I recommend this product.

2 not enough for a 55

Following other reviews I bought 2 of these for my 55. I would need four to adequately light my tank. I should have spent a little more and got the longer lights. The light switch is on top and feels pretty flimsy. I will be sending these back.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

will this be too much light for a 5.5 gallon ( 16x8) I have all live plants

  1. In my humble opinion, YES!...unless you want to tan your fishies. I'd buy one anyway, because sooner or later you will find room for an aquarium at least 15 gal. You will be happy to have such fine illumination.

Can lay flat on plex.tank?

  1. I believe you can lay it on anything.

Need clarification on number of leds

  1. Thank you for your question. Yes, you will receive a fixture with 45 LEDs. The product has been upgraded and we are in the process of getting a new image shot to update the page.

Reef lighting

  1. I used to have a nano reef tank and from the lux of the light, I'd say it's only good for low light corals at no more than 12" high from the corals.

Will this light work with a 35 gallon Hexagonal tank ?

  1. LED is tons brighter and efficent plus no heat to affect tank

Do the hoods/lights fit bow front aquariums?

  1. I don't see why not but it may not go all the way across, mine didn't. If you don't mind that. I believe it would be two to three inches short.

will this work on a terrarium

  1. Thank you for your question. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-381-7179 or email Customerservice@DrsFosterSmith.com as more information is needed to better answer your question.

Can this light be used for marine fish-only aquariums?

  1. I am currently using this for my marine fish only aquarium and have no issues with it other than the cheap power button being touchy. There is no protective housing where the LEDs are located and are exposed. So I have placed the light over an acrylic area of the tank and not exposed directly to the water. I have made the assumption that any light unit exposed to salty water can be detrimental. The LEDs are very low heat which is awesome for keeping the temps in the tank stable, which is mandatory in a marine aquarium. Any fluctuations in temperatures in a saltwater tank is very bad. For the price, it is decent.

Could you use this for a reef

  1. No,this is a grneral purpose aquarium light,fish only

Is there anyway to set up a Coralife timer to automatically switch between day and night since there is only one power cord?

  1. This fixture uses a three way switch (Day, Off, Night), so timing day & night lights is probably out of the question unfortunately.
