Why is my dog still fat even though I've been feeding her Natural Balance Fat Dog food?
- Sometimes wet food has a lot of extra calories. Try giving her just the dry "fat dogs" food, and a "pill-hider treat" instead. I also have to give my fat dog meds, and I hide them in the chewy glucosamine treat - low calorie, and good vitamins - and feed him the dry food alone. He has lost 25 pounds so far, without exercise, so I know its the food. Also, make sure you are looking at the desired weight of your dog on the back of the bag...rememeber you want them to lose the weight, so you want to feed them the food amount recommened for the target weight you wish to achive, and not feed them the amount for the weight they already are, or they'll stay that same weight..

My Akita mix just turned 10 years old and has been on Natural Balance Reduced calorie dry food for years. She weighs 90 lbs .
- This food has a lot of fiber and is 100% natural. I have four dogs and changed over about 6 months ago. All of my babies love it. Because there is a lot of fiber you may see an increase in bathroom habits - #2's. But it's a terrific food and I think your baby would love it. Get a small bag and give it a try. I keep mine on the "fat dog" formula and it has helped one of my chihuahuas slim down. Good luck.

How many calories in the Natural Balance Fat Dog Food
- package says 250 calories - calories should be shown on all packages of dog food and on the descriptions on websites. I searched (in store) the amount in each weight management dry food and this was the lowest. My overweight pug eats it with no problem - but picky eaters might not like it as it has 7.5% fat whereas regular dry foods seem to be between 12 and 14. I feel it is better quality than most of the other weight reduction foods. I haven't weighed him lately but he did loose 2 pounds in the first week. There is another weight management food that is 260 calories with 7% fat and a lower cost but the ingredients are not quite as good. (sorry, not allowed to name other brands)
