Wonderful product!

This cat flap is all I hoped it would be and more. It is heavier and more solidly built than i anticipated from the picture; quality construction. It installs in under a minute with no need to cut permanent holes in walls or doors and would remove just as quickly if necessary. Looks nice from the outside and our 25+ pound cat easily slips through it. Cats will need a platform of some sort on both sides to access the cat flap at window height if you don't have wide window sills.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good for the price

This product is good for the price. There were $300 on up models, but I don't know if they would have been much better with the exception of the insulation quality. As stated in other reviews, extra insulation is needed. Also the sides did not expand all the way to the edge of the window on one window but it did on a smaller window that I purchased the window insert for. All in all it works but there are a few imperfections that could easily be improved on w/o additional costs to the product. Also the vinyl insulation strips are taped to the inside of the box. Not the best place.

Great Solution for Window Access

I have a very large cat (16-17 lbs) and flap has room to spare. The flap swings very smoothly on entrance, but the exit direction catches ever so slightly (this may be a result of it becoming 'unsquared' during shipping). Regardless, my cat has taken to it fairly easily and is using it regularly. I appreciate the unobstructed view aspects of this product, and the construction is solid.

Product Easy to Install

The aluminum frame and sliding panels worked great in double hung windows of older home. Added a little extra sealing tape on top, to adjust for small air leak areas; and made a snug fit. Put wood block on to of partially shut window sill, so cannot be forced open. Looks attractive with the two glass side panels on either side of the door; allowing full light to come in, and accented with lace curtains.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This was so easy to install, only took a minute. The "kids" love it. Now I dont have to keep the house door open all the time for them to go in and out. Glad i found this item on line at petco.

Makes my kitty happy

This cat-door for the window is super easy to install. It did not come with enough weather stripping or vinyl to even cover the smallest size window it fits - which I found frustrating and surprising. But a quick trip to the hardware store yielded better quality and more weather stripping, so the unit now seems to keep the draft out. I'm a bit worried about our cold winters as the adjustable panels are aluminum and seem to conduct heat.and I think it could use a bit more around the flap itself. I also bought a dowel to put in the top part of the window to ensure no one can enter (otherwise someone could just open the window further, remove the door and slip inside). Those adjustments being made, the unit is sturdy and I'm quite pleased, as is my kitty who loves to come in and out!

Yes, I recommend this product.

I got two of the Chubby Cat doors to use for a 'custom' thick-wall installation. I wanted one on the outside wall and one inside, with a 'tunnel' in between, for a winter-proof pet entry. The installation wasn't too tough, the tunnel idea worked fine and the dogs used the opening without fuss. However, the doors didn't work well. It only took about two months for the 'fur ruff' around the doors (both of them) to wear off, fall off or go away. That virtually eliminated the 'sealing' effect. There was a noticable draft inside the doors. When it was windy there was a breeze coming through them. You can't get a new 'seal' you have to get a whole new 'flap.' At one or two of these a year it would get quite expensive to keep the seals on the doors. The 'locks' tended to ice up and would cause the doors (either or both) to not close completely. I eventually rendered them inoperative because they caused so much trouble. The 'hinge pins' that either end of the door swings on showed weakness and didn't fit the mating holes well and would allow the outside door to drop off regularly. It took a screw-and-washer, carefully crafted and shaped, to hold the door 'hinge pins' in place. The outside door finally gave up and dropped off forever a few months ago. After less then two years I'm taking them out and replacing them with something far better. These were not a good deal from the start.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This was a snap to install, no need for tools or assembly. Currently we have it set up with the flap propped open while our kittens get used to going in and out. We screened in an upstairs porch and put the cat door in the window and the litter box outside on the porch - so far its going smoothly.
