I backwash my koii pond filter twice a month. The process replaces about 10% of my pond water. A couple of years ago I was distracted while doing it and the chlorine in the fresh water killed all of my fish. Since then, I always use API Pond Chlorine and Heavy Metal Neutralizer whenever I backwash or add a large amount of fresh water to the pond. I highly recommend the product..

There is no substitute for a heavy metal neutralizer when chlorine treated water is added to my fish pond. This is the cheapest source for this product I have found in searching the internet.
