Pour one inch of Dr. Elsey's Senior into a clean litter box. Remove solid waste daily and rake crystals to ensure freshness. Litter does not form scoopable clumps. A single litter box filled with Dr. Elsey's Senior can handle multiple cats but we recommend using more than one litter box if you have more than one cat. Crystals may become discolored. The color does not affect the performance. One application will typically last two weeks depending upon use. After two weeks, completely dump the contents of the box and wash with mild soap and hot water. Refill with one inch of Dr. Elsey's Senior.

Do not flush, dispose of litter in trash.

The Best!

I don't know what it is about this, but this is the best cat litter I have ever used. If you use crystal cat litter, give this a try. Essentially, this is like other crystal litters. But it somehow manages to reduce the # 1 problem with crystal litters -- tracking the crystals all over the house. With this, it still happens a little. But not as much as with other brands. Second, the crystals on this are very fine. Not as fine as the micro crystal stuff you can buy from other brands, but much smaller than the average. This means that it wont' hurt cats paws. If you, like me, adopted a de-clawed cat, this is a big deal. Third, I notice almost no smell with this. Even less than other crystal litter. Haven't smelled the box in weeks. No kidding. Fourth, my cat is good with the litter box, except for the fact that at least once a week she will do her business right in front of the litter box. This is the only litter I have found that solves this. Even micro crystals from another brand, and traditional clay litter, did not break her of this habit. This litter did. My kitty has not done her business in front of the litter box in weeks. We are both very happy about that!

The Best Kitty Litter!

This is by far the best kitty litter I've ever used. The odor control is superior and there is very little tracking. This is easily controlled with a vinyl litter mat. I previously used a silica crystal litter with a larger crystal consistency. The odor control was not as good and it tracked out of the box easily. Both of my cats adapted very quickly to the Dr. Elsey's Senior Cat Litter. I highly recommend this product to all cat owners!

I bought a bag of Dr. Elsey's Senior Cat Litter because my 14-y-o cat, Bingo, was having pottybox problems. Unfortunately, he really hated this litter. Went back to using "World's Best" brand, and both of my cats like it. I gather this litter is designed for cats who just won't/can't use their litterbox. Hope it willl work for you.

I put this on the bottom of the cat box and cover it with some World's Best Cat Litter. Using the two together gives me just the right amount of deodorizing and clumping. Love it!

Excellent for Any Cat

Your cat doesn't have to be a senior to use this. It's been wonderful and I will never use anything else. I have one senior and one "teen" cat. Both cats are on a prescription food which makes them drink a lot of water and urinate constantly. I have a Scoop Free electric litter box that I use this litter with and it does a wonderful job of eliminating the odor of both the urine and feces. The best part is that one bag lasts me about 3 weeks. For those that said it didn't cover the odor, you were probably mixing the crystals like most crystal litter recommends to help it dry. You DONT do that with this litter. The only scooping you do is the poo. The only drawback to this litter is that the crystal is so fine, it tracks a little bit more than bigger crystal litter. But considering I live in a 600 sq.ft. apartment and I was more concerned with odor, I'm willing to live with it. It has majorly cut back my litter expenses too. When I was buying the trays, I was spending about $70 a month. With this, because it does such a good job, I only spend maybe $32 a month. Read the directions that come inside the bag of litter and you'll do fine with this. Also, there are coupons in each bag for your next purchase.

Godsend for declawed cats

Catapuss

I adopted a declawed older cat a number of years ago and off and on he would urinate on the unfinished basement floor. When he used the litter box he would go quickly and then run away like he was scared... turned out that the litter hurt his declawed paws. This litter is the only one I have found that works like a charm. When I first set up his box with this new litter he got in the box and played with the soft, light weight litter and has been going in the box ever since thanks to Dr. Elsey's Senior cat litter!

After having bad experiences with other litters in the past, I was desperate to find something good for my cats. This is it. It doesn't clump well, but it's not that bad as far as tracking and dust. Also my younger sensitive cat does well with it, and my older senior cat is fine with it. Its a little expensive, but I think its worth it. The only other litter I've been happy with is Feline Pine.

I have 2 rescued cats with special health needs; both had urinary crystals develop & since then have been on a special diet; they both are 'middle-aged' cats; Dr. Elsey's Senior Silver is perfect: it is very clean & low-dust which is good for the cats & also my asthma; this silicon-based litter soaks up urine & dries up feces very quickly and doesn't track up the floors & carpets like clumping and/or clay-based litters do; it also doesn't stick to cats in the way that other litters do, much safe & cleaner re: cats' grooming needs. A great product.

I'm concerned about the carcinogenic nature of silica dust. Does this product have hydrated silica? Or is it simply silicon dioxide?

  1. The product ingredients are Silica Sand, Oxygen and Hydrolozed herbs. Does not contain Crystalized Silica

Weird cat

  1. If you only have 1 box for all 3 cats add 2 boxes in different places. With multiple cats you need more than 1 box.
