awesome cage!!

This cage is awesome. So convenient, sturdy, and secure. I currently have 5 soon to be 6 parakeets in here. Two have decided to breed so I could easily slide in the divider so they can do their thing unbothered and avoid the fighting. They are still able however to see, hear, and touch the others in the flock through the divider . Sooo happy I spent the money and bought this!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very Good Cage

Very nice and good quality. Only negative is the plastic food cups which have no front perch for the birds to stand on. Had to place the wood perches next to all 4 food cups for their comfort.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great for our Ringneck Parakeet and Quaker

This is just the right size for the two of them to be inside most of the day. We used to let them out more but the ringneck decided to chew up all the electric cords on everything in the living room and can't be trusted home alone so now they are only out when one of us is present. We replaced a smaller cage and play station for more room inside. Used to take the old cage out and hose it down this is way to heavy to do that and has to be cleaned on location - that's the main difference.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Cage!

I purchased the complete set of 2 cages (4 compartments) and the stand. My cockatiels had been in one large cage and every night there was some bickering over perches even though there were plenty. This is great because I was able to give each bird his/her own cage each with their favorite toys/swings. They can still see the birds next to them so they still feel that flock mentality. The assembly was fairly easy and the cage is VERY durable even though the box arrived with some damage. I like the fact you can open side-by-side compartments if you want to make it bigger or to allow birds to mingle. Even though it is listed as a breeding cage I think it's great as an all around every day cage. There is a grate (which slides out for easy cleaning) on the bottom to keep the birds away from the cage paper (which I also purchased and highly recommend) and the trays slide out easily also. The stand comes with wheels which is great for moving around the house if necessary and outside on cleaning day. It also has a nice finish which makes it easy to clean. It has been just over a week since they started using it and already they have adjusted and know which cage is "theirs" and NO MORE SQUABBLES!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Is the bar spacing OK for budgies?

  1. absolutely

Nest Boxes?

  1. I wondered the same thing when I was buying this and went out on a limb and bought it. I LOVE IT!! The side doors are too small for the typical parakeet nest boxes sold. It just won't fit in the door. You are right that it is built like a tank, and I did easily hang a nest box on the wires but inside the cage, just because the door is not the right size. I used a heavy duty zip tie, (pet shop's idea who breeds their own parakeets) and just hung it there by the whole on the top of the box. It was very secure, birds climbed all over it and slept on top of it, but decided not to breed. I then acquired another breeding pair, and just put the box on the floor of the cage...just set it there. The seemed to like this idea much better, and I screwed a small perch right in front of the opening of the box. This worked perfectly. The divider makes is very easy to just separate the breeding pair from the rest of the flock so they don't fight or bother the new parents and babies, but they are able to see, touch, and talk to each other very easily. Hope this helps....I see you posted this 7 months ago so maybe you already solved your problem.

What is the weight of the cage without the divider?

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. The cage itself weighs 33lbs.

Re Hampton breeding cage system

  1. Thank you for your question. The Hampton Breeding Cage System without the stand weighs approximately 31 lbs. This does not have an opening for a nest box.

Nest box doors and suitability for Quakers and/or Conures?

  1. Thank you for your question. The Hampton Breeding Cage System does not have nest box doors. At this time, we do not suggest placing a wooden nest box on the bars, as it may be to heavy. This cage can house Quaker and/or Conures.

Does this fold completely flat?

  1. No, this cage when assembled does not fold.

Is the paint/surface of this cage non-toxic, zinc-free and safe for birds?

  1. Thank you for your question. We reached out to the manufacturer and they provided this answer: Regarding our cages, Prevue Pet Products uses only the best baked on powder coating materials, for a superior and safe finish. All of our materials are tested both for durability and safety, and we adhere to the highest level of standards.

Do you have pigeon breeders cage

  1. Thank you for your question. At this time we do not have any cages that would be appropriate for pigeon breeding.

Do the feeder cups have doors?

  1. Yes there are individual food doors for each of the feeder cups.

Can you clairify the cage demensions?

  1. I'll answer your question one number at a time for easy clarification. The first number (18) is the width (left to right) of each cage compartment. If you pull the divider the new length is the 37.5 inches because there is additional space between the cages not accessible because of the divider. The second number (17) is the depth (front to back) of each cage. That does not change with or without the divider. The third number (16.75) is the height of each compartment. Don't forget there is a floor between the upper and lower levels. When you stack the cages the outside height becomes 34.5 but that is not usable space because of the paper tray, bottom grate and roof in between cages. Each inside section height is still 17 inches. So the single cage compartment is 18" wide, 17" deep and 16.75" high. Since you get 2 side by side if you pull the divider it is 37.5 " wide but still 17" deep and 16.75" high. If you order both cages stacked, the inside useable space does not change. What changes is the overall height of the entire system. The overall height becomes 61" (just over 5 feet ) which is 2 complete cage systems with the stand. The stand is the same depth and width as the cages. I hope this helps. This is a wonderful cage system and I have 4 cockatiels in mine. I have the 2 cage system (4 compartments) and stand.
