Red-eared sliders are very active and love to swim. While they are mostly aquatic, these diurnal turtles also enjoy a dry, warm place where they can climb out and bask under a heat light. Turtles are social animals and can be kept together as long as you provide enough space in their habitat.

A well-balanced red-eared slider diet consists of a pelleted commercial diet. Commercial turtle treats and freeze-dried krill may be given as treats. Non-toxic aquatic plants (anachris, water lettuce), dark leafy vegetables and sliced vegetables such as squash and carrots. Comet goldfish, earthworms and insects may be offered as treats.
