All Paws up for this one

I was looking for a new brand of food for my rescue Shepherd a year ago or so when his favorite food manufacturer was rumored to go BK. I read reviews online about this food from K-9 professionals in law enforcements and regular citizens, all praising it. I chose well as my dog DEVOURS it. Also, his fur is now shinier and softer than ever and even my friends have noticed that :) Highly recommended.

Yes, I recommend this product.

No more passing gas all day

My 100 pound Plush-coated Shiloh Shephard (mixed breeds German Shephard + Alaskan Malamute) is a mixture of two breeds who are known for having sensitive stomachs. She was passing gas all day long. My Vet advised me to put her on Royal Canin German Shepherd. So as soon as I had her transitioned to the new food, her passing gas stopped completely! She loves the food & it has nice big pieces for her strong chewing. FYI, there is a Royal Canin German Shepherd-24 but it is being discontinued. I made the mistake of starting my dog on it first & soon after I couldn't find it locally because they said it was being discontinued.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Probably the best kibble for the GSD. Too many GI problems with others. 6 months on this kibble and no GI problems at all. This is food made for my GSD. And PetCo has the best price anywhere. Also love the convenient automatic re-order.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Can Royal Canin/German Shepherd dry food be kept in the Freezer?

  1. Thank you for your question. The manufacturer does not recommend freezing this food. The freezer will impact the antioxidants in the food and defrosting may cause molding. There is also a concern with the palatability of the food after freezing for your pet.

I have a 5 yr old German Sherpherd who has had hip dysplasia since approx 6mo's she is doing much worse.

  1. Find an animal accupuncturist. My elderly German Shepherd developed hip dysplasia when she was about 11-12. Someone recommended accupuncture (something I have never even considered for myself!) and she received it from then until she died at the ripe old age of 14. I know it worked: Every time she got a treatment, she was better - and dogs can't fool themselves that they're improving through wishful thinking. They either are or they aren't. Good luck!

How long does a bag this size typically last? (I am getting my first GSD in about two months and wondering how much he will eat when he's grown up)

  1. My experience is that a bag lasts just over 1 month.

Is the Avilac Stress food OK to feed my canary? Or is it for parakeets?

  1. Thank you for your question. The stress food on this page is not formulated for canaries. The products in this line formulated for canaries can be found at the following page: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=11748
