Combats Algae!

I resorted to live plants to help balance my aquarium and eliminate a persistent algae problem. The plants were 90% effective, but would get spindly after awhile. The algae would begin to creep back. I added Flourish to the water just recently. The plants are indeed "flourishing" and the algae problem is in 100% complete remission. The plants really have to be thriving to defeat the algae and "Flourish" nourishes the plants but doesn't offer anything to promote algae growth. Great stuff.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I think the product is good but there was a faulty lid on the bottle I got and it had dripped out. The lid is difficult to get off when I want to use it and if it gets tipped over it leaks on whatever it may be on. I'd like to request a new bottle so I wouldn't have these problems and could use it like I had hoped to.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This is hands down a great product for beginners to experts in plant care. You simply follow the instructions and dose as recommended. I use this along with the other Seachem plant nutrients (nitrogen, phosphate, potassium and iron) and my plants have never been happier and my anubias have been blooming for the past 3 months along with my aponogetons, even my x-mass moss has little "bulbs" they are putting out.

Yes, I recommend this product.

can this liquid fertilizer be used in a 2500 gal water garden?

  1. AudiR8, Thank you for your question. We sincerely apologize the Seachem Flourish is recommended to be used in an aquarium setting and we can not recommend using this in a larger body of water. We currently offer the Aquascape® Pond Plant Fertilizer 13-13-13, which can be used for pond plants. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=5163+5178+33514&pcatid=33514

Using Fluorite as substratum. Need Flourish?

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. This product will not cause any problems if used as directed and is entirely personal preference on whether or not it should be used in your tank, it is not a necessary product.

Is the copper in this substantial enough that it is safe for shrimp?

  1. yes i have 12 cherry shrimp in my 250 and dont have any problems

When using the liquid fertilizers

  1. Don't turn off the filters for plant food. The plants will use it for weeks after you dose the tank. I dose once a week on Saturday.

Flourish has Chlorine in it?

  1. twistermama, Thank you for your question. The manufacturer has provided us with the following information in regards to chlorine in Flourish: “Chlorine is an essential element of plant nutrition. Flourish was designed specifically for use in planted tanks containing fish and/or invertebrates. Therefore, when used as directed, the very trace amounts of chlorine in the product will be utilized immediately by the plants and will not be available to harm the animals in the tank.” mja

Is this safe for tanks with shrimp?

  1. I have 3 tanks (a 5, 10 and 20 gallon) with blue pearls and orange sakura shrimp and they have no issues with Flourish comprehensive. All are alive and population is booming exponentially. I use it in my larger tank (75 gallons) which has ghost, amano and bamboo shrimp and they have no issues either. In my experience it is safe to use with small shrimp.

UV Sterilizer with this...

  1. I have a 29 gallon tank with a 9 watt uv. I use it with a uv. It should be fine. I like to dump a llttle Flourish over each of my 2 plants rather than near a filver or uv though. So they can get some of the nutrients before they pass through the filter and uv. That might be a useful tatic to try out. But the uv should not effect Florish's effectiveness that much at all. Hope this was useful.

Does this expire?

  1. Thank you for your question. This item does have an expiration date. Please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-381-7179 or email Customerservice@DrsFosterSmith.com for the expiration date of our current stock. ajl

some of my anubius leaves are showing signs of yellow can I use flourish in my fancy goldfish tank?

  1. Anubias tend to do better in tropical tanks or at least at 68 degrees fairenheit. Your goldfish, depending on the size of your tank and number of goldfish, should provide enough nutrients for the anubias so adding flourish may not help. I would instead recommend an iron supplement, if you aren't already using one.

Flourish Liquid Plant Packs needs

  1. Thank you for your question. While we do not feel that these products will need to be used at the same time, you certainly can use them together if you choose. We suggest using 1/2 dosages as using the full dosages may cause harmful algae blooms. njc
