Great product!

I set up a 9 gallon betta tank and decided to try live plants in it. I've never had luck with live plants. They would always fade and die on me. This time I saw the Fundamentals plant pack and gave it a try. It's easy to dose the tank. All I have to do is pour the right amount in and that's it. No fuss. I had high hopes for the product because it's made my SeaChem and everything I've tried by them turned out good. I was not prepared for what happened. I was certainly not disappointed by this product. All of a sudden my four inch Amazon plants were 12 inches high and my micro sword plants were taking over the whole tank! I had to prune, prune, prune! Everything was a lush green and baby plants were offshooting everywhere. My fish seem thrilled. This product definitely works. If you want lots of nice lush plants, this is the stuff for you. I highly recommend it.

I've had tanks for over 35 years. This was my first planted tank using fertilizers. I have found the Seachem products to be excellent additions to my tank. The growth rate of my plants are outstanding. I recommend the products and their dosing chart, which can be tailored to any size tank, to anyone.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent product from Seachem as usual, sized perfectly for maintaining a nano planted aquarium, for all other aquarium sizes it is better to purchase their 250ml bottles.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Plant Pack Fundamentals kit

This trio plant pack kit comes in 100 ml bottles (34 oz) of Flourish plant food, Flourish Excel carbon and Flourish Iron supplement for plants in freshwater aquariums. These supplements are all that you really need for a well maintained planted aquarium and are ready for use. Even though the sizes of the bottles are small, the supplements last for a long time depending on the size of your aquarium. I have a 5 gallon tank for my Half moon Beta and the supplements have lasted almost 6 months!. I add a little of each liquid after a weekly water change and every other week I also add the Enhancer NPK plant pack depending on whether leaves are yellowing or roots are thin etc. In conjunction to these, I also add Equilibrium after each water change and my plants are flourishing and very green. (for Equilibrium, you will really need to stir the powder up first in water with a whisk before adding it into your tank. It clouds the water temporarily but the plants will love the mineral from it ) It also helps to have the aquarium light on for 8 hours a day. You can also get plant light but I find the Coralife Colormax or Coralife 50/50 also works well. Just be careful not to spill the bottle of Flourish as it stains the carpet and is a pain to remove! I love both the trio packs and highly recommend it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Both liquid plant packs work very well with great results. But you are better off buying these products in their bigger sizes as you go through these products very fast.

Yes, I recommend this product.

shrimp & neon tetras

  1. I have a set-up similar to the one you describe that is very thick, healthy and attractive. I use Flourish, Excel, this pack, their Iron and "Trace". I dose 1ml of Flourish, Excel, and Iron M / W / F. T / R / S I dose 1ml of Excel and iron as well as .5ml of Nitrogen, .5ml of Phosphate and 1.5ml of Potassium. Initially I killed all my inverts with "Trace" at the Seachem recommended dosage but since cutting it (I dose .5ml T / R / S) I've been able to successfully add shrimp and dwarf crayfish.

What size are the bottles and how much does each bottle treat gallon wise?

  1. Each bottle is 100ml. If your new to the product I would recommend to use the beginner dose chart. Phosphorus: use 2.5ml per 20 gallons, this would equal to 40 doses. I would dose twice a week. Potassium: Use 5ml per 30 gallons, this would equal to 20 doses. I would dose twice a week until color returns to a bright color then use once a week. Nitrogen: Use 2.5ml per 40 gallons, this would equal to 40 doses. I would dose twice a week until the growth returns to a desired level then drop to once a week. The nice thing about this product is that it can be measured via the cap.

Fundamentals Kit (CD-21243) and Enhancer Kit (CD-21244)

  1. Sorry for the "squishy" answer, but... it depends. The Essentials pack is just that; what everyone, IMO, needs to use. The enhanced pack contains elements already present in Flourish, but this kit is for addressing specific issues; i.e. symptoms of deficiency of any of one or all of these elements. So... unless you test every aspect of your water every day and know exactly (if at all) what nutrients your water lacks, just stick with the "Essential" pack.

Are the Fundamentals and Enhancer kits safe for tanks with fish? I know Flourish Nitrogren would be unsafe, but what about the other other products?

  1. No problems at all, I use this kit in two of my community tanks with no ill effects on the fish.
