I love this product for my two cats! I noticed very quickly that they were working after my two cats had fleas on them. And what I like most is it lasts for 8 months!

Yes, I recommend this product.

October 16th I bought 2 cat collars and one large dog collar (we recently puppy sat, pups left us with fleas). I applied the collars exactly how directed. After a long and late evening at work, I noticed one of my cats acting extra irritated with his collar. After coming in for a closer look, I very quickly noticed extreme redness, and some blood. I immediately removed the collar, and realized the blood was from what looked like ruptured blisters. All three of my animals have chemical burns on some sort around their necks from the collars that haven't been work quite 3 days (2 figures loose around the neck, nowhere near tight). Unfortunately I tried the collars, as I would typically use drops and now I am $215.00 down, may still have fleas and have to worry about making my pets comfortable until the wounds heal.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I was struggling to find a flea and tick product for my 8 cats and couldn't find one that was effective for both. The product I used to use was no longer effective. I hesitated about getting the Seresto collars, because I didn't think they had a safety feature, but they do. So, I bought a couple at a time and now all 8 cats have them on. The problem is solved and I no longer have to put the nasty topical on them every month. We no longer have a flea or tick problem. They are wonderful!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Best on the Market

I've used Seresto collars on my dogs and cats since they first hit the market. They work great. I haven't had any issues with fleas or ticks since using this wonderful product. I hated using topical applications on my pets for when I would pet them, I felt like I would get the oily product on my hands. Plus the topical applications which are applied monthly are very costly compared to the Seresto collars. Put the Seresto collar on your pet and forget about it for eight months. I mark my calendar to be sure to change it out after the eight month period.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Seresto cat flea & tick collar

Ordered collars for inside cats that got fleas. Mixed reactions to the collars: 8 yr. old - slight irritation and bald spot; 6-1/2 yr. old - no reaction; 1-1/2 yr. old - terrible reaction, 1 x 1-1/2 in. bald spot with inflamed, raw, irritated skin and some bleeding on the back of her neck from scratching after two weeks of usage. (She's a feral and doesn't like being held. Since I put the collar on her, she wasn't getting near me so I don't really know when the irritation really began.) Took collar off and took her to the vet; she got a steriod shot which has helped. It's going on two weeks since the collar came off and she received her shot. She still has the same size bald spot and sometimes the skin is irritated from her scratching, but it is a huge improvement. Do recommend that if anyone's pet does have a reaction to the Sersto flea collar go call the Bayer consumer line and inform them of problem. I called and a complete report was taken, including the slight balding and irriation on the other cat. Since the collar was now unusable, they offered to send out Front Line as a replacement. Received the Front Line yesterday, but will wait until there is more improvement on the feral's skin. The product is good, but just like with humans and medications, you don't know if you have an allergy to something until you are in contact with it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I first use this on the dog and it worked. I put them on the cats and they get relief from fleas for about seven months. This is a great Flea Collar!

A little disappointed

I bought these flie collors because they came highly recommend by so many friends. Also, seemed easier than wrestling with my cat to put frontline on her. I have two dogs and a cat and flee control is very pricey, so you want to make sure it works. The cat and dogs are all still scratching. They are scratching less, but I really was expecting more relief. Maybe it's just a bad flee year? Well all and all, probably cheaper than frontline, easier to use than the drops, and they do work even if not perfect.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Is the Seresto Cat Collar safe for outdoor kitties?

  1. Thank you for your question. The release mechanism allows the cat's own strength to widen the collar for quick release if trapped.

What is the safety feature?

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. The collar has a breakaway function, there is a pre-determined breaking point that will automatically break if your cat gets into a bad situation.

Can you use a topical flea treatment with the Seresto collar? My cats have been wearing the collar for about 4 months, but fleas are back

  1. Thank you for your question. We do not suggest doubling up on any flea treatment as your pet will then get a double dose of the medication. We ask that you contact your veterinarian to look into the suggested product for your area.

concerned about safety of collar as I have two semi ferals

  1. Thank you for your question. The breakaway feature does work on the Seresto Collars. There is a pre-determined breaking point that will automatically break if your cat gets into a bad situation. For your peace of mind, we have provided a link below to the Seresto page explaining how it works: https://www.petbasics.com/cat-products/seresto-for-cats/?pref=cat

Ceresto anti-flea collar

  1. Thank you for your question. If the collar is applied properly, your cat should not be able to slip the collar off. The cat collars are designed with a ratchet release and pre-determined breaking point.

Collar about 3 months old. Cats are indoor/outdoor cats. Starting to have flea problems on both cats!

  1. According to info received from the Bayer consumer hotline, when pets come into contact with "fresh" fleas, it will be like just putting the collar on for the first time. It will take a little time for the fleas to react to the medication, but it will kill the fleas, larvae and eggs. They also told me that sometimes the pet's reaction (scratching, biting area) is not to the flea, but the flea salvia which is more irritating to the pet than the actual flea bite. I would also recommend calling the Bayer consumer hotline. They were very helpful when I called regarding a reaction one of my cats had to the collar.

Effective if taken on and off?

  1. Yes! It will stretch out the collar loops if you take it off too many times. Keep it loose enough to slip it off & on & you should have no problems.

Expiration date

  1. I don't know about the length of effectiveness, but I will say that fleas can be a year around problem, at least here in the south, so leaving the collar on would be better. Don't know about your neck of the woods. Your vet can probably advise you there.

Will it fit Kittens?

  1. It will fit kittens, but only place after 10 weeks per the directions. I have had to loosen mine as they grow.

Treated my cat with Frontline about three weeks ago......when can I put a Seresto collar on her?

  1. I don't think it would hurt to put the collar on right away. I think the collar works better anyway.
