Not bad. Could easily be improved.

I just purchased the lrg. 30"x30"x18" Zilla metal screen mesh enclosure for my chameleon. The price is good. It goes together easily. But, has some problems (for me): ~ It's o:k that it is made out of standard screen window parts (still cheaper and more convenient), but, the floor is just a plain, plastic panel - and there is no attempt to chalk or seal it against water leakage out onto furniture! A custom-molded floor PAN would make it much more desirable. (I calked the bottom w/ silicone caulk, myself). Critters need watering and misting - I think this is a realistic expectation! Cheers!

Adapted for Leopard Gecko

Well, my baby leopard gecko loves to climb so I just felt guilty at the idea of getting her a glass terrarium to claw at with no luck. She can climb and she'd taking advantage of that and the ample space since I turned it on it's back to make it wide enough. I just put plastic on the bottom to deal with water since they talk about their pvc bottom. I used that to mount a mealworm feeder instead and that's been working great. There is a major problem with the screws! I almost couldn't get it together. Make sure you have a very strong screw and try to line them up as best you can. Don't be afraid to force it! The hinges were fine though. Easy enough to put together otherwise.

Yes, I recommend this product.

For the price, a very good product. Cheap screws though. Makes the walls not all line up straight. Still better than paying double for an all glass enclosure.

Great Habitat, Great Price!

I really love this cage. It was fairly cheap for the size, and it's good quality. I actually purchased this for my two Button Quail, and it works great for them. The front door provides easy access to their food and water, but still prevents any escapes :)

Yes, I recommend this product.

very nice habitat

This habitat is very nice. It's a good size for my veiled chameleon, was easy to put together, and looks good too. My only disappointment with it is that the top latch was so tight that the tap for closing/opening broke off. I have solved that issue, so not worth sending it back.

Yes, I recommend this product.

After looking on multiple websites for a screen cage for my chameleon, the Zilla Fresh Air Screen Habitat on your site caught my eye. The cage design and featuures offered me easy access and cage maintenance and my chameleon now has a safe, well made environment. I had never used petco.com to buy anything before and have now been converted to a future on-line shopper. Thank You Petco.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Does the front bottom screen open?

  1. The front bottom does not open up unless you disassemble the cage. It's just held together by screws. For a deep cleaning I don’t think it would be difficult to remove these screws if you felt it needed.

Is it possible to cut a large hole into the bottom of the product?

  1. Cutting a hole in the bottom would depend on the tools you have available. It is an approx. 1/8th " plastic panel. A hole saw on an electric drill could work.

Are the sides and back on the large zilla fresh air cage pvc or mesh?

  1. Metal mesh.

do they sell these in stores? cuz im more comfortable getting it in stores so i can really see what it looks like.

  1. I doubt it (large box) - may depend on the store.

is the back made of glass

  1. No glass. Solid PVC bottom and mesh sides.

What cage would be good for my three foot water dragon? I want something where I can put water in the cage plus climbing room a lot of it

  1. Thank you for your question Twisted666. As you mention, Water Dragons require very large setups in order to provide adequately for them and keep them from banging up their nose. The only standard aquarium size that would actually be suitable for an adult Water Dragon would be a 210 gallon regular aquarium, but with this aquarium you would have to fabricate a screen top for it. There are also other companies that make large/tall reptile enclosures that would be more suitable, you would just need to make sure that it is much larger than the large version of this Fresh Air habitat (18" L X 30" W X 30" H) and you would also need an environment that could hold a large amount of water for soaking/swimming.

What is the ideal habitat for a chameleon?

  1. Chamies are wonderful 'exotic' pets. As a group and as individual species - they have exotic requirements. Know the needs of the chameleon species you would like first - Do lots of reading and talk to on line group members who have the kind you'd like. They are very sensitive and have already short (2-5 yrs.), lives. They are a true commitment of love.

can i put a Chinese water dragon in this

  1. I would go with a glass terrarium - with proper lighting, heat, humidity and substrate.

is this cage ok for snakes

  1. No experience here. But, depending on the species size expectations - I would say yes. Talk to on line group folks who have ones of the type you are going to house, first.

What is the black mesh screening on the Zilla reptile cages made of? Is it aluminum?

  1. Thank you for your question bats. Yes, they are made of aluminum screening.
