Yes, this would use the mini halogen bulbs. If you are not planning on using at night, I'd suggest either white or blue. With this fixture you can also add in the UVB compact fluorescent bulb. For aquatic turtles you would want to use a tropical bulb. If you already have a UVB fixture and just looking to add heat you can get a mini halogen fixture by itself and save yourself some money.

This fixture will fit on top of most habitats without any modification. The base is 9.7" x 6" on this fixture (most single-bulb dome fixtures are 8.5" round, or 5.5" on smaller fixtures).
