Looking to attract wild birds to your yard? Then offer them a high-quality mix of seeds from Better Bird. Better Bird bird food options are birdseed mixes formulated specifically for wild birds. Whether you want to see cardinals, finches or other types of birds flock to your feeder, Better Bird has the right wild bird food for you.
Cardinals are striking birds and a pleasure to see at any bird feeder. Fortunately, they aren’t picky eaters, so a variety of wild bird food can bring them to your yard.
Blueberries, mulberries, black oil sunflower seeds, cracked corn, mealworms and peanuts will attract cardinals to your feeder. Rather than try to create your own cardinal bird food, you can purchase cardinal food mixes. Better Bird offers cardinal bird food, as well as songbird food that will keep cardinals coming back for more.
Finches need to eat year-round, so there’s never a wrong time to put wild finch blend bird food in your feeder. There are many different types of finches, but generally, they enjoy a variety of different grains, seeds, berries and even vegetables and insects.
Rather than try to make your own finch food, it’s often easier to purchase pre-blended bird food. Better Bird finch food is an excellent choice if you want to focus specifically on attracting finches to your yard. Consider feeding your yard finches once a day. About one teaspoon of food per bird should be adequate for their diet. Just remember that finches travel in small flocks, so where there’s one, there are likely to be several more. A good fruit and nut bird food can satisfy finches, along with many other types of other wild birds.
AIf you have the time and inclination, you can create your own hummingbird food at home. All it takes is water and sugar, and the recipe is incredibly simple. Just mix one part sugar to four parts water. For example, you can combine one cup of sugar with four cups of water. Make sure to stir the mixture thoroughly to dissolve all of the sugar. If you have more sugar water than you need, you can store the excess in your fridge.
Don’t add any food dye to your hummingbird food. Food dye can harm hummingbirds and they don’t need colored water to find your feeder. Refill your feeder daily or every other day and clean your feeder regularly to prevent mold growth.
