Platies are a hardy community fish that are great for the beginning aquarists in a 10 gallon or larger aquarium. These livebearers are fine to house with other community fish and come in an assortment of colors and patterns. Like other tropical fish, they do require a heater to maintain water temperature as well as a filter to help maintain water quality. With enough plants and decor to provide hiding spaces with a group of platies, you may even notice babies in the aquarium with time!
