Nature's Ocean Aragonite Sand

This aragonite sand is off white color, measures 1.2 mm to 1.7 mm, reduces nitrates and helps to maintain a chemical balance. It also reduces the need for added chemicals and one should maintain regular water changes. The sand is fine size but great for African Cichlids. I plan o us this gravel in a African Cichlid setup. I was glad to purchase this gravel on sale at a great price.

Yes, I recommend this product.

The sand is exactly what is says it is. The granuals are small and look nice in the tank. Very few sticks and other debris. Covers the bottom nicely and mixes well with the live sand.

Yes, I recommend this product.

While half bag has decent size, the other half is very fine sand. The color is cement like and not attractive at all. Now I understand why people say this sand is hard to wash and can cloud the tank for days. Not recommended.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Rinse Well!

I used this in my freshwater setup in combination with aquarium gravel with my (very) large Jack Dempsey. I rinsed it forever, and the water still clouded immediately. After one water change with decent filtration, "Jack" moved the sand around enough, rinsing it so that the cloudiness has gone away. A great product, just rinse well!

Yes, I recommend this product.

I had a difficult time getting this sand to work for me. I rinsed it forever; I let it sit for days..it still clouded the water if the fish so much as touched it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I need a rather fine white sand...about 3mm to use in a sandfall, which of your white sands may provide that

What would be a good thing to use when you have a fresh water tank?

    1. I have used it in both saltwater and freshwater tanks. it is beautiful. I dont like stones either which is why I went with the sand. It is extremely fine quality so it moves around similar to the ocean sand with the tanks water flow. Unless your tank is deep, you will see the water flow burrow into the sand and blow it around. I did have to put some slate into it to keep the immediate bottom stable from where the water flow hits directly
