I tried the ScoopFree Litter box without the hood for quite some time but more debris was scatter ed on the floor than kept in the box. Since purchasing the hood, it has made a definite difference in how much needs to be cleaned up and has made us all happy!

I have a medium sized senior cat, and this cover is an absolute must. He tends to toss litter out, but the cover keeps everything in, and there isn't an odor if he ever happens to forget to cover his "stuff".

The privacy hood makes the litter box less open, but I wish that the trim on the box and the privacy hood weren't PURPLE. That color doesn't blend in well in most rooms.

I bought the scoop free electric litter box and didn't think I would need a top. After the first week, I was about ready to send it back. Twenty minutes after the cat used the litter box, the box would start to clean itself and my cat would think that the parts that moved were a toy. She would jump back into the kitty litter box or attack it from the sides to attack the machine. We decided that we would give the cover a try and have been thankful ever since.

I bought this cover to keep my cats from kicking litter all over the floor. The hood does not stay in place and slides around when the cats get in or out of the litter box. It does help contain some of the smell from the box, but would not say this was the best purchase to make.

The top is nice, it looks nice, but it is totally unnecessary in my opinion, and I have two cats who tend to fling litter. They don't make a mess with the crystal litter, and the hood requires the cats to make quite a leap into the box. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THESE HOODS, but I just don't think they are necessary.

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little doubtful about buying this litter box topper. Our cat will kick litter everywhere when he is "doing his business". The other reviews said that the topper was really low for a medium size cat and that their cats had a hard time getting in and out. Trust me.. our cat is HUGE... he is bigger than our maltepoo who is 13 pounds, and he has no trouble getting in and out at all. In fact I think he really enjoys having a little bit of privacy now. Of course at first he was a little hesitant but quickly got over it. It helps cut down on the odor as well which is nice. I would definitly recommend it!! If you end up not liking it you can always return it. :) Hope this was helpful.

It fits well with the scoopfree automatic litter box, and my cats also fit right in it since they are used to a hood about the same size. However, it's pretty pricey for a piece of plastic! I wish it had been cheaper, but oh well, I didn't want litter all over the place.
